The Sr. Engineer, Packaging and Inspection, with minimal supervision, leads secondary packaging equipment and inspection projects. They shall lead direct discussions with client decision makers, stakeholders and SMEs to learn and/or develop technical design philosophies and business objectives. Using those definitions, design and implement manufacturing equipment processes and their integration with the client facility (from pilot to fully operational). Projects are world-wide in support of all IPS sites.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work directly with clients to understand business requirements of the organization, identify data requirements, and formulate strategies.
Write scope of work for process and manufacturing based on preliminary reviews and meetings with the client.
Define packaging design philosophies and facility design parameters.
Assess project requirements, break project into tasks and work with Project Manager and design team members to determine scope of work, budget and staffing.
Lead cGMP secondary packaging and inspection equipment Concepts, Basic Designs, and Detailed Designs
Work with design drafting to develop secondary packaging line and inspection line layout drawings
Develop and optimize for material and personnel flow, safety and efficiency
Perform capacity and throughput analysis calculations
Estimate rough order of magnitude equipment capital investment
Generate User Requirement Specification (URS) documents and purchase specifications.
Vendor management of secondary packaging and inspection equipment:
Obtain vendor quotes
Evaluate and compare vendor quotes from a technical, financial, operational and schedule standpoint
Make recommendations to the client
Manage vendors during equipment build process
Perform engineering reviews during equipment build process
Generate and execute Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documents.
Assist in the education and development of design staff and act as resource for design questions.
Develop thorough Concept and Basic Design reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 10 years of secondary packaging and inspection equipment engineering experience within the pharmaceutical industry focusing on aseptic and oral solid dose (OSD) forms is considered a strong plus.
Bachelor's Degree in chemical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
Experience working in a cGMP environment is highly desired.
Proven experience leading secondary packaging and inspection equipment design efforts.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
Use of CAD software (AutoCAD) for internal layout development.

Travel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location.
This position is a safety sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other "non-administrative" areas.
Extensive proven experience interacting and communicating directly with clients. Active participation in industry organizations and related initiatives is strongly preferred (for example: speaking engagements, presenting at industry events and conferences, etc.).
Knowledge and relationships with industry leading equipment and service vendors.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on more than one project at a time.
Comfortable working in a project team environment to collaborate with other departments and disciplines.
