Provide advanced technical design and support of multiple KFHPW Enterprise databases. Provide expert advice to ISD and KFHPW managers and Data Custodians regarding multi-platform data system technologies and their interfaces. Support continuous improvement initiatives in both systems and EDM staff to ensure database availability, performance and integrity and against data losses.
Provide advanced database design support to application development projects. Prepares physical structure designs based on application requirements.
Plans for physical databases and dictionaries to establish database areas, tables and access permissions. Codes and tests SQL triggers and stored procedures. Assists application programmers with tuning and debugging database programming routines.
Provides expert advice and consultation to ISD management and KFHPW customers regarding development of multi-platform database technology and interfaces.
Provides advanced maintenance support for multiple Relational Database Management Systems (e.g. Sybase, CA-Datacom/DB, DB2, MS SQL). Plans and certifies software maintenance fixes and major releases supplied by database vendors. Plans and supervises data migrations for major database upgrades.
Provides advanced troubleshooting and production support including on-call during evenings and weekends to respond to outages and other database related problems. Ensures data integrity by designing operational procedures for scheduled database maintenance.
Prepares courseware and trains EDM personnel in database maintenance procedures and administration techniques. Advise other EDM personnel in troubleshooting and problem resolution techniques.
Minimum nine (9) years of information technology experience with a minimum six (6) years of experience as an enterprise database administrator.
Bachelor's degree OR four (4) years of experience in computer sciences OR completion of a vocational school or certification in computer sciences.
High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.

In-depth understanding of database administration in an enterprise environment.
Advanced technical understanding of client/server computer platforms and operating systems.
Advanced skills in the use of Structured Query Language (SQL).
Database administration in multiple enterprise database management systems; In-depth working knowledge of the enterprise operating systems.
Proficiency in database coding in an enterprise environment.
Database administration experience with relational DBMS, e.g. DB2, Sybase, Oracle, MS SQL Server.
Bachelor's degree in computer science.
