Overview

The Senior Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for managing all operations personnel and contractors for both the Xtream Arena and Greenstate Family Fieldhouse, including front and back of house services, technical services, information technology, conversion, custodial services, and equipment inventory control. The Senior Operations Manager ensures an effective and cost efficient program by controlling the Operations budget, and performs related day to day responsibilities as required.

This role leads all elements of facility operations including budgeting, purchasing, directs the operation and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, HVAC, custodial, grounds, sound, lighting, a/v equipment, tele-communications systems, security, smoke/fire detectors and traffic control. Manager will serve as the facility safety chairman to maintain a safe and secure facility for the public and employees.

This role will pay a salary of $55,000 to $60,000.

Xtream Arena & GreenState Family Fieldhouse fulfills a longstanding community and economic development void in Coralville and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall daily operation and maintenance of the facilities. Ensure staff is working safely, efficiently and are aware of proper safety guidelines. Lead monthly facility safety meeting.

  • Plan, direct, and review the work plan for all event changeovers and coordinate with relevant teams and vendors; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems, assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures. Report labor allocations to the Director of Finance.

  • Select, train, motivate and evaluate all Operations staff; provide staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies, implement discipline and termination procedures.

  • Develop and administrate the Operations budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor expenditures and implement adjustments as necessary.

  • Maintain hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits; maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.

  • Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system; including equipment maintenance and inventory logs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university in a related field (Facility Management, Engineering, Sports Management, etc.).

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in a supervisory operations position at an arena, convention center or public assembly facility and experience related to set up/housekeeping and event coordination in those venues; 3+ years in an ice arena/multi-use arena preferred. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively lead a team, experience leading a large team preferred.

  • Proficiency with a computer using Microsoft Windows, as well as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Deep understanding of OSHA requirements and their applications.

  • Possess a valid driver's license or ability to acquire upon hire.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including, early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and extended number of consecutive days
