We're currently seeking a Senior Operations Manager to join our team.

Senior Operations Manager lead the day to day operations of the terminal staff while focusing on safety, performance & productivity.


Senior Operations Manager

  • Coordinates and prepares railcars for loading & unloading

  • Checks and verifies numbers on all inbound/outbound trains

  • Manages the movement of ramp crews

  • Identifies situations that require problem solving to achieve efficient flow within the terminal

  • Enforces and upholds all ITS rules, regulations and policies

  • Approaches safety violations with care and provides on the spot coaching

  • Ensures interactions with terminal staff increase engagement and retention

  • Other duties as assigned (administrative & non-administrative)

  • Previous transportation and supervisory experience is preferred

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

Job Summary The Sr. Human Resources Generalist for the Edgerton, KS Central Fulfillment Center will be an energetic, adaptable, intelligent, and trusted partner, responsible for supporting the development, implementation, training, and communication of all Human Resources policies and programs. Under the overall direction of the HR Manager- CFC, a successful Sr. Generalist will thrive in a challenging, fast paced, and collaborative environment with the runway and opportunity for company growth with demonstrated performance. Primary Duties & Responsibilities (25%) Client Group Support and Employee Relations. * Ensure investigations are conducted in a professional manner, compliant with all relevant local, state and federal laws, and that all parties involved are treated with dignity and respect. * Support highly confidential case assignments and projects related to employee relation issues including investigations, facilitating disciplinary meetings, and providing consultative advice. This includes building relationships with management and employees, conducting and documenting investigative interviews and case conversations. * Guide, counsel, and approve actions of management team in support of resolution of employee relations issues * Conduct investigations applying objective analysis and recommendation, through to conclusion * Ensure consistency in administration and compliance with all company policies and procedures * Mitigate risk by keeping up to date on all relevant labor law and industry trends (25%) Support Staffing and Turnover Reduction Initiatives * Play a key role in providing back up and direction to the Employment Services department and onsite temporary agency. * This includes, but is not limited do, assisting with the performance, productivity and effectiveness of the organization's employment programs & systems. Conduct employment searches, screens, and interviews when applicable and necessary. Work with temporary firms as needed. * Develop and maintain job descriptions in partnership with DC Management and in compliance with FLSA requirements * Counsel managers on candidate selection; conduct and analyze exit interviews when needed. * Participate in budget and headcount planning for fiscal year and enforce headcount management according to plan * Working directly with the Corp Compensation team to ensure appropriate budgeting for open positions and external and internal offer recommendations * Open requisitions and work directly with the Talent Acquisition team for timely hiring and offer approvals * Identify turnover trends and develop S.M.A.R.T initiatives to drive retention * Maintain appropriate temp to perm associate conversion ratio based upon business needs * Lead employees through effective hiring, orientating, training, mentoring and coaching. Provide ongoing recognition, feedback and development, holding staff accountable for success. Identify and mentor future organizational leaders. Ensure appropriate resources are provided to staff. Develop a staffing plan that meets both consumer expectations and financial constraints. Create an environment where employee feedback facilitates positive change. (10%) Employee Engagement Programs (10%) Drive Organizational Design and Development Activity * Support the performance, productivity and effectiveness of the organization for programs. * Assist with the facilitation of the development of programs and solutions to help support and respond to business needs. * Assist HR Manager with analyzing data on employee turnover, employee satisfaction surveys, exit interviews and other metrics in order to enhance and improve HR programs and services. (10%) Develop, gain buy-in, and drive adherence to Company Policies & Procedures (10%) Participate in HR Projects and Initiatives * Participate in and assist in projects with a high degree of confidentiality and complexity, including organizational redesign and other highly sensitive initiatives. (10%) Additional Duties and Responsibilities Education and Experience Profile * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Business Management, or related field. * Minimum 5 -7 years relevant HR experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment * PHR or SPHR Certification Preferred Required Skills * Technical/Functional Competencies * Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus * Skilled in utilization of HRIS tools. Workday, Ceridian, or Kronos experience a plus. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to express viewpoints clearly and persuasively, and explain objectives and expectations thoroughly, at all organization levels, one-on-one and group settings (i.e. presentations). * MS Office Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook skills desired. Strongly recommended. * Ability to set expectations for employee behavior and act as a cultural role model for the organization. Capable of providing accurate and candid feedback and effectively coaching and influencing employees and managers. * Familiarity with contemporary best HR and management policies and practices, e.g., recruitment, selection, performance management, employee development, HRIS, and recognition and reward (e.g. compensation and incentive) systems and structures. * Basic understanding and ability to interpret and apply Federal/State employment laws. * Demonstrates unyielding integrity.
