As a member of the Operations team you will apply the principles of accounting and finance to support the trading operation of an established investment firm. The Operations group is responsible for ensuring settlement and executions of all trades, and providing complete and timely information to traders and management by recording, maintaining, and reconciling all daily activity. In addition, this group is responsible for providing the firm with accurate profit and loss statements, as well as reflecting accurate exposure with outside counterparties. Position Responsibilities Duties (in order of priority)You will work with transactions related to the latest financial products being offered in the asset management industry. Daily responsibilities will include performing all daily functions required to manage and maintain the development and maintenance of the cash and collateral management function as it relates to trade support. This will involve researching and resolving trade-related problems and issues and working on special projects, systems and reporting requirements. II. This person should be able to adapt to an evolving work environment recognizing changes and providing suggestions to handle arising issues. Essential job functions: * Has strong SQL knowledge, including the ability to write SQL code to assist with account reconciliations and aged reconciling items * Demonstrates advanced Excel skills (macros, SQL code in Excel) * Utilizes technology to assist in reconciliations that are accurate, complete and in the time frame required by corporate policies. * Works with internal Financial Reporting personnel to support timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external reporting. * Prepares and ensures accuracy and integrity of accounting and transactional records to ensure proper financial reporting. * Ensures that interfaces between ancillary systems and the general ledger are processed timely and accurately so that the affected assigned general ledger accounts are complete, accurate and properly classified. * Independently provides prompt, courteous and professional customer service to internal and external users of information provided by the Accounting department. * Develops and maintains financial databases with servicing and / or collateral information. * Assists other departments with compiling information and reporting results and outages. * Analyzes financial information to develop efficient use of resources, propose procedures, or provide strategic recommendations to address business and financial problems and maintain solutions * Prepares summary reconciliation reports for management Education / experience requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; industry experience preferred. * CPA Certification preferred Extensive knowledge of GAAP preferred. * Strong SQL knowledge (including ability to perform SQL coding) * Advanced Excel skills (including macros, SQL coding in Excel) * Minimum of 4 years of Accounting experience in either public or staff accounting.
