This position will use professional and skilled procurement practices to strategically source new product commodities globally assuring long term supply for Beckman Coulter at world class levels of quality, delivery and total cost. Specifically, contribute to new product development initiatives, assist integration of acquisition's procurement processes. The Senior Analyst Procurement is directly responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of strategic and tactical procurement activities across multiple commodities on Hardware Product Development Projects. As a member of the SCM sub-team, they drive for shortest lead times, lowest cost products and time to market. The incumbent will thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial culture and will embrace change.
Manages the purchasing of critical components and commodities throughout all stages of the NPD program
Manages material procurement activities from external and internal entity suppliers, scheduling, ordering, and expediting for material needs.
Solicit and validate competitive quoting amongst suppliers and have strong competency and experience in negotiating cost and pricing
Maintain a summary of all quotations and store for reference
Maintain a summary of orders and delivery dates to the project team via standardized metrics for daily stand-up review meetings to status to others in the supply chain and R&D organizations
Responsible to proactively plan and manage long lead components and initiate risk buys to meet project target dates to enable faster time to market of new designs
Responsible for supplier management to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction through use of established lean tools.
Employs procurement automation and standardized buying processes across value streams using tools such as iBuy
Ensure rapid lead time supply of all parts with purchase orders for new product development builds through close interaction and management of prototyping and production suppliers for all phases from Concept to Product Transfer to Manufacturing
Work closely with Global Sourcing and Supply Chain team on supplier selection and ramp up for production
Interface and collaborate closely with Strategic Sourcing team and Project Engineers and serve as a contact between suppliers and product development
Ensure that all problems which impact cost, delivery and quality are escalated and quickly resolved
At project completion, disposition excess material as required
Work closely with receiving, stores, and QC to solve any quality, delivery and part identification issues
Work with finance to ensure all invoice, pricing, and standard cost discrepancies are setup and resolved within timeframe required
Participate as one of main contributors to design transfer to Manufacturing
Can be assigned to lead cross-functional teams focused on supplier lead-time reduction or to lead or participate in special projects for Continuous Improvement.
Participates on teams to determine specific cost reduction activities that are assigned as commodities dictate. Goals are established and tracked.
Providing support and guidance to other supply chain professionals including but not limited to tactical buyers and commodity leaders.
Minimum 7-10 years hardware sourcing experience, NPI experience is an absolute must exposure to sheet metal, precision machining, plastics, and electromechanical commodities
Requires strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal leadership skills in a high volume work environment
Must have a practical working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems: Oracle working knowledge is preferred
Proficient at managing relationships with suppliers
Demonstrated familiarity with engineering design documentation including fabrication drawings including awareness of GD&T
Very organized and able to independently pursue concurrent resolution of multiple issues
Excellent Global communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with cross-continent time zones, some occasional travel may be required
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office applications especially Excel with the ability to learn new programs that are job specific
Applied knowledge of Lean/6 Sigma Supply Chain or other continuous improvement methodologies in a regulated manufacturing environment
Supplier contract creation and management knowledge and experience
Strong negotiation skills
Post-secondary education in a related field (engineering or business)
Graduate or actively enrolled in an accredited supply chain management program
