Position Summary

  • Software developers and engineers are vital to Madwires mission because they are responsible for the stability and innovation of our many software products.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Help build and maintain Marketing 360, the #1 marketing platform, and other software products
  • Work with the team to design performant, scalable and secure software services
  • Debug and monitor existing services and help resolve problems.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • No supervisory responsibilities

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required, but is not a significant part of the job.

Requirements

Requirements

Required Education/Experience

  • Fluent with NodeJS and/or other similar languages
  • Able to efficiently build software based on requirements from the product team
  • Ability to work with existing code to resolve bugs or build new features
  • Pro-level debugging skills
  • Competent in the evaluation and use of design patterns and programming paradigms
  • Strong database skills, and firm understanding of MySQL query language
  • Familiarity with a variety of SOAP and Restful APIs
  • Familiarity with unit testing and code quality

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Docker & Kubernetes experience
  • IBM Cloudant knowledge
  • Service based architecture

The work consists of technology exploration and investigation, developing proofs of concept and prototypes of capabilities, and carrying forward technologies into new development projects in the core engineering team. The focus is on core system elements such as platforms, devices, storage protocols, and the I/O path in general, though it is usually necessary to venture into the control plane to complete a project. We are adding a Master-level engineer to the team to provide additional leadership and enable us to take on a broader set and scope of projects in the future. A well-qualified candidate would have ten or more years in the field of systems software development or a closely related field of software engineering, have a solid background in software architectures, be able to navigate emerging storage technologies, be full of ideas on how to make our products better, be willing and able to adventure into projects that are seeking quick results based on vague ideas and partly implemented solutions. The key technical skills are built upon systems-level C and related program on Linux platforms, though skills in other emerging technologies are also beneficial. Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Responsibilities: * Develops organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems design and development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit. * Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture. * Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk. * Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners, and industry standards groups. * Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of software systems design and development innovation and excellence.
