LCRA owns and operates a large private telecommunications system (WAN) in the State of Texas supporting its long-term business operations and customers' requirements, electrifying Texas, taming the Colorado River, and bringing Broadband Internet to rural Texas. We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person to join our Telecommunications Engineering Team, contributing to network routing and architectural design, prepare upgrade roadmaps, and influence the technological direction of LCRA's telecommunication system. This is a highly technical position that requires network design experience and excellent communication skills!
You will be trusted to:
Propose and design moderately complex to complex Layer 2 and 3 network systems that carry critical data including topology diagrams and detailed configuration scripts for implementation.
Work independently as lead on capital projects and acts as a project consultant and specialist.
Maintain a strategic outlook and product road map for industry trends, technology changes, developments, and obsolescence within the LCRA Telecom Network.
Identify actual or potential problems, investigates, analyzes, and develops corrective actions to be taken, and drafts mitigation strategies, including proposing capital projects to correct.
Act as a resource and training asset for those less skilled in IP protocols and technologies.
Maintain thorough knowledge of engineering principles, LCRA procedures, equipment, and systems.

You are a great fit with:
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or other relevant field.
Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation
Working knowledge of TCP/IP technologies such as MPLS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, SD-WAN, VPLS and VPRN.
Extensive Layer 2 and Layer 3 experience
Experience with Juniper, Cisco, Nokia and other vendors
The ability to take complex technical concepts and present them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
