As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Senior Network Engineer in our Digital Techology business located in Winston-Salem, NC.
The Senior Network Engineer designs and plans network communications systems; provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements; conducts testing of network design; maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc; evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Upgrade network hardware and software components as required
Solve complex problems with many variables
Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems
Deploy strategy and roadmaps for complex LAN/WAN and data center environments
Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning
Install hardware such as switches, routers, and wireless controllers
Write functional requirements/specifications documents
Participate in on-call rotation
Some travel may be required. Expected travel: 25% or less.
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university and minimum of 6 years of relevant experience OR- equivalent combination of education and experience
Detailed knowledge of routing, switching, wireless platforms, which could include the following:
Routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, IGRP, OSPF, VTP, etc.)
Cisco NX-OS (7K, 9K)
Cisco CCNP (Routing & Switching, Data Center, Service Provider) Certification, or equivalent from another vendor
Application load balancing (F5, Citrix or other vendors)
Familiar with Network Automation (Ansible, Python, etc.)
Converged infrastructure products such as Cisco UCS or Dell/EMC storage
Proven record of accomplishments in major Enterprise level projects
Willingness to travel as needed
Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
Desire to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead projects to make improvements to processes, procedures, etc.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership
Demonstrated ability to build credibility with, interact with, and influence suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders; Ability to build strong relationships
