As a Senior Network Engineer you will be responsible for developing, managing, and supporting a large geographically dispersed network for our high availability environment. The network infrastructure is critical for our clinical laboratory business that operates 24X7X365 in multiple time-zones. You should be accomplished, have a consistent track record, and be proficient in network/system infrastructure design, support, tuning, maintenance, and monitoring. It is desired that you have moderate knowledge of Cisco's Systems product offerings, including but not limited to their Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VPN, Network Security, UCS, and UC VOIP.
Provide daily support of the Local, Wireless, and Wide Area Network including switches, routers, and firewalls, and load balancers
Implementation, and support of the network security infrastructure
Consistently suggest improvements to existing configurations, technologies or procedures
Provide daily monitoring of all network devices and ensure they are optimally tuned and within normal operating ranges. Take enthusiastic measures to mitigate out or range threshold.
Work closely with all IT functions to design and implement operational requirements for new and existing IT systems
Hardware and Software Lifecycle Management
Participate in Root Cause Analysis reviews
Provide mentorship and training for junior team members
Fix intricate network and systems issues down to the bit level and up to the application layer
Provide critical thinking to complex problems in a 24/7, high-demand network environment
Process, monitor and prioritize trouble tickets
Assist in hardware/software purchases
10+ years validated experience supporting and handling a large geographically dispersed IT infrastructure required
Previously held a Senior Network Engineer and/or equivalent
Previous Management experience and/or the ability to lead junior level team members preferred
Medical Laboratory experience desired
Requires industry recognized technical certification(s) MCSE and/or CCNA
Education & Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or technical related field is strongly preferred
Must have experience in 24/7 environments
Proficient and detailed knowledge of the OSI layers 1-4 and associated equipment
Deep understanding of the TCP/IP suite
Experience with advanced network concepts and technologies such as QoS, CoS, IDS/IPS, VoIP, flow control, PFC, store-and-forward switching and cut-through switching
Knowledge of fiber transport installation, troubleshooting and maintenance
Knowledge of switch architecture, ASICs and packet flow for current generation switches/routers
Knowledge of implementing and troubleshooting dynamic routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP and OSPF
Working knowledge of end-to-end QoS for LAN/WAN/MPLS network
Experience with packet sniffing applications (NAM, Snort, TCPDump, Wireshark, Netmon, etc.).
Experience performance tuning networking infrastructures
Experience with 10gb Ethernet
Knowledge of Infiniband or 40/100g Ethernet
Travel will be required to our remote offices.
Available for on-call rotation for afterhours and weekend support
