The Boeing Team is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Network Design to join our team developing hardware and software solutions for proprietary programs for our clients located in Herndon, Virginia.

We translate customer needs into detailed requirements for system integrated design including system/data architecture, facility design, hardware selection, software selection/development, system integration, testing and operations/maintenance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the identification, analysis and documentation of requirements for both classified and unclassified network transport technologies and services (e.g., voice, video, data) based on customer goals, objectives, cost and security constraints

  • Leads and organizes the creation and documentation of designs that conform to architectural and security standards, to meet customer requirements, using industry best practices and tools

  • Prepares and deploys complex implementation packages per Boeing standards

  • Leads the performance of complex preventative, proactive and reactive maintenance in order to meet service restoration and network availability objectives, using network analysis and monitoring tools

  • Researches, develops, documents and deploys emerging technologies and techniques, determining proper integration into existing systems to meet customer needs, as directed

  • Leads and coordinates implementation planning for multi-technology insertion projects, using established project management methodologies for the purpose of controlling costs and ensuring adherence to project plan

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret clearance and Polygraph (US Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with the maintenance of Cisco switches, routers, wireless, command line interface and network protocols
  • 3+ years' experience leading network security infrastructure (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Access Control Lists) projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Current CCNP, CCNA and/or CISSP Certification

  • Writing scripts to collect network device status and to perform software upgrades

  • Verbal, written, and presentation skills

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Experience with COMSEC equipment

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).


This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

The candidate will perform a full range of complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network. Duties include: * Plans new configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance. * Provides support in the translation of business requirements into network requirements, designs and orders. The overarching security requirements for the customer network add to the complexity of these positions. Majority effort is in the design phase for new projects and supporting troubleshooting issues. * Maintains network and security hardware and software as a member of Tier 4. May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures. * Provides support to projects that involve networks. May require installation and configuration to support the organization's local area network (LAN), customer networks, Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network system. * May evaluate new network technologies into the existing network; in concert with sister organizations. * Attend technical exchange meetings to consult with clients, Project Managers and System Administrators to gather information and determine customer requests * Design, configure, and test network and security hardware and software solutions * Document network drawings in Microsoft Visio detailing current and future network configuration changes * Design and optimize network performance and topologies * Produce Microsoft Power Point presentations outlining network infrastructure and proposed enhancements for the Network Engineering Review Boards * Research, test and configure new network equipment in a lab setup before deploying at customer site * Plan, coordinate and implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware * Prepare script configuration files for Cisco devices; including firewalls, routers, switches and vendor devices * Provide installation instructions and procedures to assist with troubleshooting for Maintenance support groups * Active TS/SCI with Poly Required * Demonstrated technical expertise in engineering systems design and analysis * In depth knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems Desired Requirements: * Cisco CCNA/CCNP * CISSP * Experience in Customer's onsite systems: ESMT, JIRA, ServiceNow Essential Functions: Physical Requirements: Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
