Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Agile experience preferred

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Design Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Analyzes effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources

Analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development

Assigned difficult problems within domain of expertise Capable in supporting challenging technical assignments within domain of expertise

Determines, monitors, and reviews costs, operational budgets and schedules, and manpower requirements

Develops subsystem Test Plans and Test procedures

Establishes work methodology and sequence to gather and organize data for review with appropriate engineer(s) in support of project Extended contact with senior levels within the engineering department, and some cross-department contacts for program support

Formulates and recommends corrective action measures such as schedule revisions, manpower adjustments, fund allocations, and work requirements

Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system

Is a subject matter expert (SME) in at least one discipline/field and possesses working knowledge in multiple adjacent disciplines/fieldsLeads small continuous process improvement efforts Maintains records, compiles reports, graphs, charts and related data in support of projects

Makes recommendations and coordinates and identifies resources required to meet defined project requirements

Non-technical Support Participates in and provides reasoned input to discussions related to identification of problems/issues in tasks and/or project assignments Participates in and provides reasoned input to discussions related to identification of problems/issues in tasks and/or project assignments Participates in the strategic planning for new project(s) utilizing creative application of domain competence Participates in the tactical planning for completion of identified project segment Performs all aspects of Systems Engineering disciplines including, Requirements Analysis, Use Cases and Data Flow Diagrams development as well as defining system default data definition through Interface Control Documents (ICDs) development

Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification or electronic or electro-mechanical devices, assemblies, subsystems, and systems

Performs system integration & testing and regression testing of software Prepares and coordinates the plans and schedules for new or existing programs Provides mentoring and direction to less experienced personnel

Provides systems engineering support to other cross-functional product teams such as Software Engineering, Network Design, Information Assurance, Modeling & Simulation, Provides technical expertise to customers, users or company personnel either at domestic or international field sites

Resolves proposal preparation problems and assesses the progress against established plans and parameters

Serves as company liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects

Supports all required Engineering reviews, Gathers and organizes data for review with appropriate engineer(s) in support of project

Supports and participates in negotiations with customer

Supports proposal efforts as requested Supports systems, software and equipment layout. Installs, tests, modifies and/or operates complex equipment and systems

Technical Support Test/Integration, Integrated Logistics Support, and TrainingUtilizes defined resources to meet project requirements KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Able to solve multiple issues within domain of expertise across multiple engineering disciplines

Considered expert in field within the organization

Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards

Creative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skills Demonstrates a very strong pattern of continuous learning

Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation

Effects of decisions are long-lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization

Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives

Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources

Exercises very strong latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment

Exercises very strong judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Expertise in systems engineering, network/system management with demonstrable background in research support and in-depth, hands-on knowledge of COTS/GOTS network and systems management applications

Having very strong experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways

May provide work direction to other employees

Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise

Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives

Work is performed without appreciable direction

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors

Key Responsibilities The Senior Power / Analog Design Engineer will be responsible for leading multiple member teams as well as being an individual contributor in the design, development and test of Analog and Power System designs at GDMS that are required to support our various customers' missions. Additional Responsibilities * Lead electrical engineering design team and Integrated Product teams in the development of Hardware Configuration Items and Subsystem Level Power System designs * Be the main point-of-contact with program leadership in regards to technical design, schedule, budget and quality for the electrical engineering design team and Integrated Product team for which he/she is leading * Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance. * Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers' changing business needs. * Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures. * Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS's services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices. * Interface with vendors for product development * Interface with other GDMS engineering disciplines * Provide direction/support to Manufacturing as required * Attend formal design reviews as both a Presenter and Reviewer * Interface with the local Navy office * Apply Customer and GDMS Common Processes Basic Qualifications Candidates must have experience leading electrical engineering design teams and multi-functional design teams as well as experience in specifying, designing and verifying analog components, and developing subsystem-level power designs.
