About the Senior Network Architect / Strategist

HPE Pointnext Shared Services Delivery is currently looking for highly qualified and motivated candidates for a Senior Network Architect / Strategist.

As the Senior Network Architect / Strategist, you will provide technical leadership for the Sustaining Engineering team for our Network-as-a-Service product offering. This position is key for the strategic direction of on- and off-premise hosting as well as remote delivery.

Position is expected to include 25% domestic overnight travel, but may vary depending on the needs of the business. Proximity to a major airport is required. No relocation assistance available.


As the Network Architect / Strategist, you will:

  • act as the technology lead of HPE's Sustaining Engineering team for our Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) and our Internet of Things (IoT) portfolio
  • consult with our HPE Fellow members on consumption models for Network-as-a-Service (NaaS)
  • provide input to network designs at a customer level
  • lead networking technology decisions for our Managed Services business
  • mentor all networking technology team members
  • set up test environments based on customer needs
  • develop business case requirements
  • interface and make customer presentations as required
  • perform other duties as needed or assigned

You'll have the opportunity to work on the products we deliver and support, while gaining experience as a Senior Network Architect / Strategist, which can lead to future careers within HPE.

Education and Experience Required

  • 15+ years of relevant industry experience

  • 3+ years' experience at a Senior / Strategist level with a consistent record of significant contribution, leadership, and impact to the business, the technical community, and / or the industry

  • Master's or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related area of study

  • Without a Master's degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (18+ years in total)

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Familiarity with HPE / Aruba networking and wireless products

  • Proficient Data Center experience, basic understanding of data center switch distribution / connectivity

  • Proficient in working with project application teams to design, scope, BOM and cost project application environments including requests for proposals

  • Proficient with wireless environments and a basic understanding with the principles of wireless networking

  • Familiarity with SD-WAN networking concepts and principles

  • Proficient in working with project SD-WAN specialists to design, scope, BOM and cost project SD-WAN environments

  • Familiarity with general high availability (HA) principles

  • Familiarity with general disaster recovery (DR) principles

  • Excellent communication skills - internal and external (customer), written and oral; need to be able to communicate both internally (HPE) and externally (customer) at an Executive / Director level

  • Will be able to fully understand a customer's point of view; should be able to rationalize whether the proposed solution has value to the client and if the proposed solution matches the customer's needs and budget so that the proposed solution has a high probability of customer acceptance / purchase

  • Experience in certain Business Verticals such as Finance, Manufacturing, Industrial, Telecom, Oil & Gas, Education, Federal and State / Local Government to understand how the client will utilize the network
