Position Primary Purpose: Establish and develop outside contacts with organizations, realtors, lenders, and other affinity sources to market mortgage loan services to increase lending market share with quality loan volume. Receive sales leads from branch employees and serve as the liaison between branch employees and members by providing excellent communication between all parties. Connect with coworkers, members and/or external customers by providing friendly and efficient service while working together to solve problems quickly.
Use discretion and independent judgment in all areas of planning, implementation, communication, education, selling and follow-up of mortgage affinity business development activities.
Establish and develop outside contacts to promote mortgage loan referrals that meet established Salal Credit Union and FNMA guidelines.
Market Salal Credit Union mortgage loan products to affinity sources that will place Salal Credit Union as a primary lender to maintain new mortgage loan quality and volume.
Responsible for developing and enhancing affinity relationships.
Work with mortgage loan manager in developing and recommending and implementing marketing programs to increase volume of mortgage loans with affinity sources.
Analyze and monitor competition and be aware of other industry trends.
Provide education and communication to staff involved in the mortgage loan origination process.
Track business generated through marketing efforts via various reports and provide to management statistical data with regard to credit quality of loans purchased and application volumes.
Recommend enhancements to the mortgage products with regard to rate, term, advance, etc. to enhance marketing efforts.
Proactively refer members and prospective members to Personal Financial Representatives and Member Service Representatives by marketing all Credit Union products and services as opportunities are identified.
Complete all education, training and professional development required for position.
Demonstrate product knowledge and meet annual product and service certification requirements.
Enter identification into credit reporting software to generate credit reports as needed. Required to communicate in writing and create collection letters and management reports.
Assist with development, implement and review of tracking reports for collection results.
Comply with all state and federal regulations and compliance standards, including: Identify Theft Protection Plan (ITPP), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Information Privacy (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as well as Credit Union policies and procedures. Complete required compliance training.
Ensure required records are retained in accordance with the Salal Records Retention Program and preserved in a careful and secure manner.
Use network PC workstation to access core system software to perform account transactions, queries, and specialized functions for accounts as needed. Utilize all Internet service delivery systems and Microsoft Office Suite to perform duties as needed. Operate and maintain department equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
Previous Experience: Performed successfully in a conforming mortgage loan origination position for a minimum of three years.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
Demonstrated Abilities: Express thoughts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Build strong relationships with affinity sources. Work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision and the capability to work in a team environment as needed. Interact positively with co-workers, management and the public. Market products and services in a manner, which is responsive and professional manner. Working knowledge of federal and state consumer lending regulations. Evaluate verification of income records, collateral valuation and purchase contracts. Demonstrate leadership skills and abilities. Listen to cues and ask proactive questions to select appropriate product or service to refer.
Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicating verbally, communicating in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing and operating a keyboard. Lifting and carrying usually not to exceed 20 pounds.
Interpersonal interactions, problem-solving, analyzing/evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, read/write/speak English, creativity and task handling.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. May be required to travel to other Credit Union facilities and various locations for job-related training, meetings and events.
