We are searching for an experienced Senior Mining Project Engineer/Project Manager. The successful candidate will provide technical support and leadership for mining and construction project management concerning all facets of mining engineering, operation, and construction, from concept through reclamation. Candidate with a demonstrated record of project management, project design, construction oversight, construction planning, construction project review, safety involvement, and environmental compliance, is required. The position is based in our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania office; but other office locations may be considered.

Essential duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide coal mining experience / expertise while participating on a multi-discipline team, to perform a wide range of mining-related functions. These can include mine planning, operations assessments, and construction activities.

  • Mine planning would include assessments of cost reduction and improved operational efficiency.

  • Utilize experience working with various agencies in the preparation of designs construction activities, e.g. PADEP, MSHA, and OSHA

  • Perform reclamation, site construction, refuse impoundments, and water treatment projects with minimal oversight.

  • Travel of approximately 10 percent is required for this position (e.g., project sites, conferences, other company office).

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • BS degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline. At least 20 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Post-grad studies, MS, or MBA is a plus.

  • Professional Engineer registration is required.

  • Coal mining experience is required. Other minerals or REE experience is a plus. For coal, both bituminous and anthracite experience is preferred.

  • Coal reserves estimation experience required.

  • Participation in professional affiliations is a plus.

  • A mix of consulting and mining operations experience is preferred. Experience in previous roles that demonstrates a strong commitment to health and safety issues as they relate to the mining industry.

  • Experience with proposing on, winning competitive task orders, and executing work is required, and must be demonstrated if a face-to-face interview develops.

Language/Communication

Skills:
Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Other Skills and Requirements:
Must be computer literate and competent in AutoCAD, MS Word and Excel. Capability in other Microsoft Office suite products is desired. Candidate must be able and available to travel via and possess a valid drivers' license in good standing.
