Role Value Proposition:

Senior Engineers role as part of the Shared Application Platform Engineering team is to provide for the enterprise configuration and support for multiple integration technologies such as IBM Integration Bus (IIB), WebSphere Message Queue (WMQ), Cast Iron, and API-Connect whileensuring platform stability and process improvement.

Supporting application requirements, engineer designs and automates configuration installation implementation. Engineer will also help position MetLife to leverage emerging technologies to provide cost effective, agile, integration solutions while working across a matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement complex integration solutions through collaboration with engineers, application teams and operations team across the global enterprise. Senior engineer will configure lower environments thru automation and hand over to and support the operations team implementation in the higher environments.

  • Implement and support configuration management, orchestration, and maintenance automation using tools such as Blade Logic, Perl, Python, and Unix shell.

  • Collaborate with other engineers to understand emerging technologies and their effect on unit cost and service delivery as part of the evolution of the integration technology roadmap.

  • Investigate, recommend, implement and maintain middleware solutions using cloud, open source and container technologies.

  • Provide technical support to application developers when required. This includes promoting use of best practices, ensuring standardization across applications and trouble shooting.

  • Investigation of released fix packs, automation, documentation and handing over to operations in collaboration with Senior Engineers

  • Provide assistance and training to lower-level Middleware engineers. This includes creating standardized processes to simplify and standardize support engineers' role, and providing guidance to engineers from disciplines such as networking, database management, WebSphere Application Server (WAS) etc.

  • Technical leadership, ability to think strategically and effectively communicate solutions to a variety of stake holders.

Essential Business Experience and

Technical Skills:

Required:

  • 6+ years of experience in an IT-related field.

  • 5+ years of experience across integration products such as MQ, WMB, IIB or similar open source integration technologies.

  • Knowledge developing scripts for automation (shell, Perl, PowerShell, Python, Java).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express / translate business needs into technology assisted solutions and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.

  • Highly motivated and eager to learn new technologies with the ability to work independently.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • Knowledge and experience working with TLS certificates, keystores and truststores.

  • Experience with IBM z/OS platform is a plus

  • Understanding of DNS, firewalls, load balances, RDBM's, LDAP, file transfer

  • Knowledge of Docker and cloud technologies.

  • 4+ years of in-depth knowledge on infrastructure architecture, design and implementation best practices and hands-on administrative experience with at least one of the following products: MQ, or WMB (IIB) on Linux or AIX platforms.

  • Experience with application development using Agile principles
