Romulus Global Propulsion produces V6 engines and 10-speed transmissions used in several GM cars, trucks and crossovers. The plant originally opened in the 1970's as part of GM Detroit Diesel Allison Division making diesel engines and components. The plant began to produce engines in the 1980's, and through the years, has produced over 10.8 million V8 engines and over 6.6 million V6 engines. The "career" level process engineering responsible for developing and procuring manufacturing process, equipment/
tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary for the Heat Treatment, Shot Peening, and Welding of gears and shafts. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity, plant activity, or supplier activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment. Work involves regular interface and direction with both GM suppliers and GM manufacturing plants of heat treat services or components.
Overseeing lab activities, familiar with Particle Count analysis, Micro/Marco Hardness inspection, SEM, FTIR, Metallography, Stereoscope and Coulometer.

Design for manufacturing evaluation and application of GM product requirements
Strong technical knowledge in metallurgy/mechanical/process engineering
Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with customers to solve problems and resolve issues
Lead Sediment reduction initiative, work with cross-functional team
Demonstrate initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
Proven ability in project management skills
Demonstrate experience in fatigue and failure analysis
Demonstrate capability in weld joint design, calculations, and process for powertrain applications
Knowledge/experience with Planetary/Parallel Axis/Hypoid gear designs, manufacturing, and measurement processes.
Education and Training:
Bachelor's Degree with a major in area of materials or metallurgy is preferred with 5 years industry experience.
