Partner with the VP of Merchandising to build and drive the Girls Playwear product strategy
Build line plan to support the global product assortment needs for all channels including retail, wholesale and international
Drive and ensure achievement of division margin and revenue goals based on financial plans
Lead cross-functional team. Ensure alignment to product development calendar. Work closely with Design, Sourcing, Sales/Planning, Retail Buying/Planning and Merchandising partners to ensure strategies are executed
Responsible for the product development of multiple categories from concept stage to final product; partner with Design and Sourcing to achieve seasonal cost targets
Develop deep understanding of competitive landscape. Understand Carters brand position in both make and value by classification. Address white space with new product launches.
Key liaison with appropriate DTC buyers focusing on product, pricing, and promotional strategies.
Coach and develop associate and/or assistant and trainee level merchants
Present to leadership at product development milestone meetings
Attend and present at sell-in meetings for major wholesale accounts
Travel as necessary key account selling and market knowledge
Experience and Skills
7+ years total product merchandising/retail experience with escalating responsibility; experience developing a line structure is critical
Strong knowledge of retail metrics in order to effectively analyze results across channels and markets
Excellent communication and management skills; must possess ability to persuade, influence and build consensus among all parties
Well-developed presentation skills needed to present to senior level executives and key accounts
Ability to lead and develop talent
Strong aesthetic point of view and the ability to translate to our brands
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
