About this job:

Senior Merchandise Planner is responsible for executing the strategic initiatives within their fast growing division; while ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all plans, revisions and projects developed. Senior Merchandise Planner effectively analyzes dynamic, multi-dimensional plans including sales trends, gross margin, inventory and OTB levels. Partners with the Buying and Store Planning teams to identify national business opportunities and risks to sales and margin. Senior Merchandise Planner is responsible for leading, inspiring and developing their direct report.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing seasonal business plans through partnership with Buying group and analysis of historical data to forecast trends

  • Develop Pre-Season chain plans at the class level and In-Season forecasting of chain plans

  • Monitoring monthly performance to sales, inventory and margin targets

  • Manage weekly OTB

  • Performs independent analysis and recommends courses of action to drive profitable sales

  • Collaborates closely and builds trust among cross-functional partners to drive desired results

  • Lead and inspire team. Builds environment that strengthens associates through training and development

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Requires minimum of 5 years' retail merchandise planning experience. Minimum of 3 years' experience involving sales and inventory planning, sales forecasting, and OTB

  • Minimum of 2 years' of prior supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability

  • Ability to partner and influence cross-functional partners

  • Ability to lead and manage team

  • Highly proficient in Excel

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills

  • Strong retail math skills

  • Thorough knowledge of planning systems, Arthur Planning is strongly desirable

  • 4-year college degree required

This person will be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Analyzing sales and financial performance weekly, ensuring that respective accounts are instock and adequate goods are in the pipeline for program duration and long term profitability. Duties include:</li> <li>Ad hoc weekly analysis</li> <li>Downloading Projection Analysis Ladder forms and reviewing actuals vs. future projections</li> <li>Retrieving sales information online, followed by formatting and analyzing the data</li> <li>Recapping sales to team, highlighting trends and opportunities</li> <li>Inventory/ Financial management</li> <li>Manage and control inventory levels, identifying risks and opportunities</li> <li>Build and present plans, communicating the strategy in a clear and concise way</li> <li>Review Reorder opportunities in conjunction with weekly sales review</li> <li>Submit Recolor proposals on best sellers to sales and design</li> <li>Submit markdown suggestions by sku in accordance with specific account’s aged requirements /projection/plan</li> <li>Provide replenishment and reorder projections by sku for production to re-negotiate pricing and pre-source materials monthly.</li> <li>Project top level fashion order packaging needs to allow production to pre-source monthly.</li> <li>Identifying sales opportunities through the use of current sales analysis, working with design, production and Account Manager to ensure future proposals align with current sales trends at retail</li> <li>Manage business in season, including forecasting sales, markdowns, receipts and gross margin, while partnering with sales to drive the business</li> <li>Acting as a liaison between Sequin and clients, including communicating daily with customers via email and phone, as well as conducting effective meetings</li> <li>Working with production, shipping and ticketing departments to ensure that customer ship dates are met.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>3+ years’ experience in inventory management/Planner position, preferably with Dept.
