who will promote Marian University's Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by providing exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff by acting as the primary point of contact for all communication for the Senior Lighting Technician. General Statement of Job:
Maintenance, repair, installation and operation of heating, venting, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (generally designated as HVAC/R) and the associated auxiliary equipment, controls, components, and hydronic systems that would be found in a commercial, industrial or university setting.
In addition, this role will oversee all electrical, lightening, and plumbing installation, maintenance and repairing functions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical, mechanical, and plumbing code specifications to determine correct layout and troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment installations
Sr. MEP & Lighting Technician must build upon established employee or customer relationships, improve employee morale, and help develop frontline associates on a continuous basis.
Conduct daily and frequent inspections for quality and safety and implement corrective action.
Understand all employee work assignments and schedule for adequate coverage.
Responsible for oversight and implementation of all preventative maintenance as scheduled and keeps records.
Researches and specifies repair parts from manuals and computer sources.
Responds to any emergency repair/maintenance situation as required.
Maintains critical inventory needed to keep operations running; maintains and accounts for tools used
Electrical & Lighting Responsibilities:
Oversee the installation, examination, replacement and repairs of electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, Ethernet and coaxial cable assemblies, interior and exterior lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
Audit all interior and exterior lighting throughout campus to ensure that proper lighting levels, and life safety requirement.
Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
Maintains/monitors electrical stock and parts inventory at appropriate levels to ensure facility work production
Maintains, repairs, installs, and tests switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors.
May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
HVAC Responsibilities:
Oversees and performs the inspection, testing, operations and repairs of all refrigeration and related equipment for preserving food, making ice, cooling water, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation
Oversees and performs the calibration, repair and maintenance of all pneumatic control systems and related equipment
Services, repairs, rewires, and calibrates electric controls
Oversees and performs checks, services, cleans, and replaces filters in all A/C air handling and heating units and documents the same
Oversees and performs the cleaning and maintenance of grills, ducts, and shaft ways in A/C, ventilating, and exhaust systems
Understands and demonstrates knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration codes and practices, coordinates work between and with other trades
Plumbing Responsibilities:
Oversees and perform servicing, testing, inspections, and repairs on a variety of equipment including water softeners, steam vaults, steam valves, street mains, medical gas systems, hot and cold loops, boilers, and chillers
Oversees and maintains plumbing, replacing water filters and defective valves and washers, replacing, or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains
Oversees and performs the assembly of pipe sections, tubing, and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment. Cut's openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools
Oversees and performs the filling of pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observes pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks
Oversees and installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, pumps, appliances such as dishwashers, garbage disposals, and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools
Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines
May perform water treatments; treats closed loop water systems, cooling towers, chilled water, and heating systems by collecting and testing water samples; adds appropriate chemicals to maintain correct levels and balances
May perform limited abatement work on an as needed basis
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs various plumbing and steam systems utilizing such tools as a sewer camera and heavy-duty sewer/drain machine
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties
Responds to any emergency as required and is responsible for snow removal as assigned
Attend all department training sessions.
On call responsibilities may exist.

This position reports directly to the University Maintenance Manager.
Required Qualifications:
Applicable skilled trade certifications.
Must have the ability to read drawings and blueprints and interpret specifications.
Must have the ability to understand and apply industry standards for installation, repairs, and safety.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be able to follow safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
