Job Description:

The Counseling Center at The State University of New York at Fredonia seeks a full-time, 12-month Senior Mental Health Counselor/Training Coordinator to join our team beginning August 2024.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting to the Clinical Director of Mental Health Services, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide brief individual and group counseling, treating students with developmental and mental health concerns. Maintain strict adherence to the ethical principles, standards, and guidelines of the American Counseling Association and state laws, rules and regulations of NY State Office of the Professions, and departmental policies and procedures;

  • Provide crisis counseling with students in need of immediate intervention; conduct mental status assessments and make appropriate recommendations regarding student psychological welfare and substance use behaviors;

  • Provide individual and group clinical supervision to staff and graduate interns;

  • Develop graduate intern training policies and procedures in adherence with CACREP and NYS Office of Professions standards; Recruit and on-board graduate trainees;

  • Develop and facilitate professional development trainings;

  • Keep timely, appropriate, and accurate clinical records; demonstrate computing skills, proficient typing skills, and comfort using electronic medical records and scheduling software;

  • Serve a diverse population of students in an inclusive and multiculturally competent manner;

  • Provide outreach and consultation to the campus community;

  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required.

  • Ability to work at a fast pace and handle spontaneous work demands

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree;

  • Licensed NYS Mental Health Practitioner with Diagnostic Privilege;

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in brief psychotherapy orientations;

  • Experience in crisis intervention and consultation;

  • Clinical supervision experience;

  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with diverse communities;

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Trauma informed orientation to counseling;

  • Experience working in a college/university setting with a diverse population of adolescents/emerging adults;

  • Experience facilitating prevention, outreach, and/or educational programming;

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, twelve-month, UUP represented SL-4 term appointment beginning August 2024 at an annual salary range of $62,596 - $67,596.
