As a Senior Medical Writer you will use your scientific expertise to develop and deliver innovative medical communications projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical writer seeking professional growth and progression.

Taking the lead role in projects where required and taking ownership for the scientific / editorial component, you will be responsible for producing high-quality scientific content for a range of of printed and computer-based scientific materials from technical manuscripts to congress materials, interactive web projects and sales aids.

The role will involve reviewing and interpreting data from preclinical and clinical research articles and clinical study reports as the basis of creating scientific written materials in keeping with project briefs. As a Senior Medical Writer, you will assist with editing and proofreading of text written by other team members and provide constructive feedback to aid learning and development.

Working with leading international pharmaceutical clients, you will be interacting with some of the world's leading scientists and physicians on critical therapeutic and scientific issues. You will be required to participate in client meetings / teleconferences and attend scientific meetings such as congress, symposia and advisory boards and participate in pre-meetings, onsite activities and post meeting work as required, autonomously as appropriate.

To succeed you will have an advanced degree in the life sciences (PhD, MD or PharmD is mandatory), as well as at least two years of relevant medical information, communications or marketing writing experience (agency or pharmaceutical).

The primary focus is on scientific medical writing, which includes researching, writing and editing protocols, investigator brochures, DSUR annual reports, and supervising external vendor(s) in writing clinical study reports. This includes the ability to summarize data from clinical studies and assist in the development of formats and guidelines for clinical documentation. This individual keeps abreast of professional information and technology. Responsibilities include representation on cross-functional teams as well as development of internal style standards and guidelines consistent with those for electronic regulatory submissions. Must be flexible with the ability to respond rapidly and effectively to changing priorities and corporate policies in a small but growing pharmaceutical company. Essential Functions: * With input from other team members (Clinical, Development Operations, Biostatistics, Regulatory Affairs, Drug Safety, Pre-Clinical), the Medical Writer researches, writes, and edits Investigator's Brochures, DSURs, clinical protocols, clinical study reports (CSRs), and clinical summary documents (such as integrated summaries of efficacy and safety), using data provided and in a format compliant with the governing regulatory agency. * Manages medical writing aspects of CSR development from start to finish. * Acquires and maintains files of reprints cited in clinical documents. * Acts as liaison between cross-functional department personnel, managing writing projects to ensure that background materials are provided, timelines are communicated, and questions are answered. * Facilitates internal review of materials and documents and consolidates comments from internal and external reviewers (adjudication meetings). * Leads the development of style standards and guidelines for preparation of clinical documents submitted to regulatory agencies. Requirements: * Comprehensive mastery of medical writing skills and management of medical writing projects related to regulatory submissions. * Understands functions of clinical development, biostatistics, drug safety, and regulatory affairs departments. * Has an in-depth knowledge of clinical regulatory documentation requirements (familiar with GCP, CTD, FDA, and ICH requirements). * Has ability to understand and interpret clinical and statistical data analyses. * Is able to successfully manage multiple projects from conception to completion, working collaboratively in a team environment. * Has excellent writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail with solid writing and organizational skills. * Has strong organizational, verbal communication, and computer skills. * Knowledge of eCTD publishing requirements Preferred Education: * B.S. or M.S. in life sciences discipline; advanced degree preferred. Preferred Experience: * At least 8 year of experience writing clinical documents in a pharmaceutical/biotech company or CRO. * Extensive knowledge of English grammar with a familiarity with a standard style guide. * Familiarity with the principles of clinical research * Ability to interpret and present clinical data and other complex information in a clear and concise manner * Self-directed and collaborative while building strong working relationships across multiple departments to finalize documents, including in high-pressure situations.
