Astellas is announcing a Senior Medical Information Associate opportunity in Northbrook, IL.
Purpose & Scope:
This area has direct impact on customer service, including the provision of medical information for Astellas products in response to unsolicited requests from both healthcare professionals and patients/care givers within the Medical Affairs Americas (MAA) region and conducting quality assurance (QA) review of materials within Medical Affairs area of responsibility.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Document all inquiries for medical information in the Global Medical Information Database (GMID)
Reply to inquiries using standard response documents as appropriate
Collaborate with Medical Information Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop new and revised standard response documents; when no standard response document exists, drafts custom response document
Communicate any trends or issues to Medical Information SMEs
Report potential adverse events and potential product complaints per Astellas policy and established processes
Verify Medical Information Request Forms (MIRFs) from the field sales force are unsolicited per applicable country requirements
Remotely respond to after-hours emergency/on-call requests (approximately 2 months/year)
Conduct QA review for non-promotional medical materials and/or standard/custom response documents, as assigned
Assist in departmental projects, generate/analyze reports, participate in new team member on-boarding, and represent Medical Information on committees (e.g., Astellas new hire training, Medical Information orientation, new process development), as assigned
Represent Astellas at medical meetings/conferences as assigned
Fulfillment of unsolicited medical information inquiries, completion of QA review tasks as assigned and potential adverse event reporting per Astellas policy and established processes
Handling proportional number of 1500 inquiries per month (FY17 metrics)
Healthcare professional with a Bachelor's Degree or higher (e.g. pharmacist or nurse)
Basic knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of available medical references and online literature searching
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask
Excellent oral and written communication skills; basic negotiation skills
Excellent computer/technical skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to work in a team/matrix environment
Some travel may be required
At least one year clinical practice experience or one year pharmaceutical industry experience
Drug Information or call center experience
Bilingual (Spanish/English) -- oral and written fluency in medical context
