The Medical/Senior Medical Director will support one or more development programs involving drug candidates in Alzheimer's Disease, frontotemporal dementia or other neurodegenerative diseases. The initial focus will be in designing and executing clinical trials in early clinical development.

You will have to opportunity to be a leader across multiple early stage assets and/or therapeutic areas. Activities include responsibility for advancing priority clinical programs through study design and execution, development of Biomarker strategies, as well as interpretation of data from clinical studies. You will interact with multiple levels of management within Alector, key external partners in the medical and scientific community, along with global regulatory authorities. This role will report to the CMO.

The Medical/Senior Medical Director has the following responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for programs that integrate the individual's extensive knowledge in basic and clinical science, neurology disease areas with knowledge from the medical community around the world.

  • Execute an early stage development program in dementia or other diseases including PD or ALS.

  • Integrate the scientific rationale, regulatory and payor requirements, input and advice from medical and patient advocacy groups, product development plan, and commercial goals to build a solid strategic framework for the Clinical Development Plan (CDP).

  • Establish aggressive clinical development timelines, incorporating key decision points and Go/No Go criteria for each CDP.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with program counterparts in Commercial, Research, Regulatory, Biomarkers, Clinical Operations and Statistics.

  • As required, establish external collaborative relationships to augment Alector's capabilities in support of early-phase development programs

  • Contribute to the development of strategic initiatives and specified Business Development activities.

You will have the following mix of professional and personal characteristics:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in clinical research

  • Industry experience in clinical development preferred, but not strictly required

  • Deep understanding of basic science related to neurodegeneration and immunology

  • Capacity and willingness to work effectively across disease areas.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills as well as being able to perform effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and excellent organizational skills.

  • The ability to lead directly and by influence, including strong problem solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.

MD / PhD or DO credentials. Neurology training with subspecialization degenerative CNS disorders preferred.

Metabolic acidosis is a chronic condition commonly caused by CKD that is believed to accelerate the progression of CKD, increase the risk of muscle wasting and cause the loss of bone density. Tricida's New Drug Application (NDA) for veverimer is currently under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA has assigned a Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) goal date of August 22, 2020.* Tricida was founded in August 2013 by a seasoned management team that has extensive experience in the development and commercialization of therapeutics, with substantial expertise in developing polymers for the treatment of kidney-related diseases. SUMMARY: We are currently seeking qualified, highly motivated, experienced individuals for the position of Senior Director, Medical Information Reporting to the SVP, Medical Affairs. The Senior Dir, Medical Information is responsible for building and leading the Medical Information function. The position will develop and ensure appropriate distribution of medical information for development and marketed products. The position will ensure compliance of all Medical Information activities and that systems and SOP / processes are in place to address medical inquires and responses. The Sr Director, Medical Information will be responsible for daily activities of the function including oversight and management of staff and operations and will be a member of the Medical Affairs leadership team. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Management and supervision of Medical Information staff including Managers of Medical Information, call/contact center, contractors, vendors/agencies * Medical Information budget creation and management * Develop, implement and maintain systems (or oversee vendors) for the receipt and documentation of responses to medical, scientific and technical information requests from external customers healthcare professionals, patients, the general public, and internal stakeholders, ensuring prompt, accurate, quality assured responses * Lead development and ensure appropriate distribution of medical information for development and marketed products, handling medical information, product literature surveillance, and letter library activities * Provide medical information trend reports, presentations, and information to cross-functional partners and Sr Management as appropriate * Participate in Medical Affairs activities at scientific congresses; contribute to training new Medical Affairs members and other internal stakeholders as requested * Maintain a working knowledge of Medical Information functions, legal and regulatory requirements, Codes of Practice, Standard Operating Practices and guidelines. * Medical Information will be responsible for providing medical input to the promotional and medical review committee, for the AMCP dossier strategy, preparation and distribution, and the compendia strategy and submission.
