We're looking for a Sr. Mechanical/HVAC Engineer in Cary who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients' business. Join us and you'll have the chance to work on projects including state of the art industrial and commercial facilities. You'll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client's expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You'll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will produce HVAC mechanical and plumbing systems concepts, fire protection design concepts, and HVAC mechanical and plumbing calculations including load, energy/total cost of ownership analysis. Your role keeps our company connected and we'll support you with what you need to be successful.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering,

  • Professional Engineer License required

  • At least 15 years of related experience required (Pharmaceutical facility design experience including ISO classified cGMP manufacturing facilities required)

  • Central Utility Plant design experience including large chilled water systems, steam boiler systems, and cGMP qualified compressed air systems required

  • Refrigeration systems experience preferred

  • Some travel required

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Working knowledge of Revit software preferred

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas

  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams

  • Passion for buildings and construction

Position Summary: Researches, develops, designs, and tests a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Primary Responsibilities: * Lead responsibility for technical direction of a project team or functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced engineering concepts, techniques, and standards * Develops solutions to complex problems that require a high degree of innovation and ingenuity * Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, and selects the required equipment, and piping, to achieve the goal * Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications * Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects * Become familiar with the client's expectations, overall scope and schedule for assigned work * Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements * Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer * May direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations * Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks #AF #LifeSciences * BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering is required * PE registration is required * 7 years of related experience required (Pharmaceutical facility design experience including ISO classified cGMP manufacturing facilities required) * Central Utility Plant design experience including large chilled water systems, steam boiler systems, and cGMP qualified compressed air systems required * Refrigeration systems experience preferred * Proficiency with Microsoft Applications is required * Ability to work independently and complete tasks as scheduled is required * Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment is required * Travel required Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc.
