REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers. With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.

We are backed by the world's best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Anduril, and Boom Supersonic, in addition to strategic investors like Lockheed Martin, Japan Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. We have over $8B in orders from some of the industry's largest operators and are hard at work getting our full-scale, human-carrying prototype on the water next year.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will support highly cross functional engineering efforts spanning all systems across REGENT's seagliders. In this role, you will employ your expertise to provide the necessary definition, optimization, and analysis of hardware, modeling, and assembly solutions, leaning on your background in highly regulated, weight and safety critical applications.

You will provide cross-disciplinary input for materials, assembly, and best practices and mentor others. Candidates should have experience in both rapid prototyping and volume production in a fast paced environment.

This role reports to the Mechanical and Actuation Group Lead and has the opportunity for growth in people and project management.

. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will work to develop various static and kinematic systems. Presents designs, analysis results, and trade studies to key stakeholders.

Candidates should be experienced in the entire prototype development cycle from concept design and analysis through fabrication, integration and testing.Mechanical work may include tasks ranging from the design of an actuation system to propulsion test fixtures, to component enclosures and fixturing. This role requires self-motivated individuals willing to embrace tasks for which they have a depth of experience as well as those that will require on-the-job training/education.Candidates with additional experience in electrical engineering will be highly valued as many of the mechanical systems are tightly coupled and interface with electrical components for control and feedback. This role will work closely with various engineering disciplines and must support requirements management, verification and validation efforts, and general interaction and functionality of other subsystems and their integration into the vehicle as a whole. This role may evolve into a leadership role and progress to support future product development.Occasional travel will be required.. BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.10+ years of applicable mechanical engineering experience; ideally within an Aerospace or Aviation field.Experience with a CAD package, preferably NX.Experience in the analysis and integration of complex kinematic systems involving various electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic actuators. Experience with analytical software for completing FEA and thermal analysis.Experience using MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or other programming tools for varying purposes ranging from data reduction to analysis/simulation.Robust first principles foundation in statics, mechanics, materials, and thermodynamics.Familiar with writing test plans and reports and conducting tests for mechanical systems including specification and implementation of instrumentation.Experience in generating and maintaining supporting design documentation.Hands-on experience and familiarity with shop tools and their proper use Strong organization and communication skills, willingness to learn and teach.Biased toward action while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.. MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.Extensive motion control application experience.

Experience with air vehicle control surfaces and effector systems.Experience working with electro-mechanical or electro-hydraulic servo actuation. Experience working with energy storage systems such as Lithium-Polymer or Lithium-Ion batteries.Experience working with high-voltage, high-power electric propulsion systems and power electronics.Prototyping and production manufacturing experience; knowledge of best practices for manufacturing components utilizing CNC machining, additive manufacturing, composite layup, welding, and hand fabrication techniques.. FAA PPL or boating/sailing experience.
