Function as lead engineer on design projects for piping and mechanical systems. Provide detailed guidance for inspection, upgrade, modification and repair to existing equipment. Provide training and technical assistance to project and operational personnel concerning the development and application of the projects.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
8+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, with experience in the petroleum industry and offshore rig operations experience preferred.
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Professional Engineers license preferred.
Knowledgeable in piping and mechanical systems, equipment, and construction/installation techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of machine shop techniques and procedures, metallurgy, welding, knowledge of appropriate design software, to include CAD design (AutoCad), flow analysis, FEA Programs, 3D modeling software (Solid Works), etc.
Knowledge of current data processing, storage and Artificial Intelligence technologies is an advantage.
Travel is an essential job function (est. 40%, domestic, international and offshore).
Perform as lead engineer in piping and mechanical system new built or modifications for both in house projects and projects done by outside consultants.
Provide professional design input on piping and mechanical systems as needed for project support.
Perform necessary calculations to support piping and mechanical system designs including creating and modifying CAD drawings, creating 3D designs, performing strength, flow and other required calculations.
Perform on site measurements, both manual and using 3D scanning devices as required. Process the results and create site reports with the results for use within the mechanical engineering group and/or other Noble departments.
Direct, review, monitor/perform Noble and design house piping and mechanical system design drawings and studies/analyses for accuracy and compliance to specifications.
Evaluate and inspect piping and mechanical equipment to determine the extent of modifications or repair.
Evaluate piping and equipment design, construction and installation methods for best practices.
Resolve technical issues with classification societies or other licensing/regulatory agencies.
Ensure all Statement of Requirements (SOR) items related to piping and mechanical system are met or exceeded.
Create design reports conforming to high engineering standards.
Assist in upgrade, modification and repair of existing systems and equipment, as assigned.
Serve on various IADC committees and other professional society committees if and when required.
Develop and/or update engineering technical bulletins, rig specific engineering procedures, etc., as required.
Develop/update Noble Piping, Design and other Standards.
Physical dexterity sufficient to perform all necessary shipyard interface and interaction required within the scope of job responsibility.
