ThisSenior Mechanical Engineer will work to research,design and maintain products for the Truck Refrigeration business. Theposition will collaborate cross-functionally across multiple regions and havefrequent interaction with our global manufacturing facilities, dealerships andcustomers. The position will beresponsible for delivering major global New Product Development programs thatmeet specific performance and Quality/Cost/Delivery goals. The role will also provide engineeringsupport to Q&R, Sustaining and VA/VE engineering teams along with otherfunctions, including Product Management, Manufacturing and Field Service.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may beadded):

  • Generate, evaluate, analyze, and develop design concepts forsystems, components and assemblies to meet new product requirements provided byProduct Management.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering designs, drawings,documentation and BOMs.

  • Support Program Management Office in development of project andresource plans, or in the case of smaller scale projects, the Senior PlatformEngineer will be responsible to develop and maintain these plans.

  • Match existing and new technologies to market needs andopportunities.

  • Ensure that DFMEA and DVPR processes are adhered to. Ensurelaboratory and field testing activities adhere to our product developmentprocesses.

  • Protect confidential and intellectual property (prepare patentdisclosures for example).

  • Multi-region travel up to 10% may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 yearsof work experience required.

Key Competencies:

  • Background in structural design/analysis and drive systemdevelopment desirable. Knowledge of refrigeration system technologies would bean advantage. Experience with design for manufacturing principles,machined/cast/sheet metal components is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects.History of delivering programs that meet QCD targets.

  • Strong project planning / management and organizational skills.

  • Plant or manufacturing operation experience expected.

  • Demonstrated experience with Design and Q&R processes,supplier qualification, and part approval requirements.

  • Self-motivated with strong collaboration skills. Demonstratedability to work with cross functional teams spread across multiple geographicalregions.

  • Basic cost accounting and project viability assessment experiencebeneficial.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicateeffectively at all levels within the business.

  • Creo (CAD) proficiency and familiarity with Windchill would be anadvantage.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core ME ENGINEER FAMILY – CORE * Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company's safety and quality plans and culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others. * Completes entry level and routine mechanical, electrical and field construction activities. * Learns how to develop budgetary M/E estimates, based upon program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating system. * Assists in the review of mechanical and electrical options as part of the preconstruction process and completes systems analysis for select projects. * Learns to develop the mechanical and electrical scopes of work used to coordinate during the bid process. * Assists in the completion of bid analysis and provides input during the subcontractor selection process. * Assists in developing sequencing requirements of various systems and providing solutions to meet the schedule requirements. * Gains knowledge of design documents in order to identify potential quality problems to assist in developing constructability review reports. * Learns to perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality and timely manner. * Learns and assists with the shop drawing/submittal process to comply with the contract documents. * Assists with the commissioning process including developing pre-functional checklists, functional testing procedures and actual functional testing. Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core SENIOR M/E ENGINEER In addition, this position will be responsible for the following: * Completes increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities. * Develops budgetary M/E estimates, based upon program and schematic design information. * Reviews mechanical and electrical options, completes systems analysis, recommends best system for the project and provides value engineering suggestions. * Coordinates the mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process. * Develops sequencing requirements of various systems and provides solutions to meet the schedule requirements. Provides scheduling input during projects. * Reviews design documents and identifies potential quality problems. Helps develop quality control programs. * Performs job inspections at various times in the project to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality manner. * Develops pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures. Verifies contractor's performance of functional test. * Reviews and approves shop drawings prior to submitting to the design team. * Generates and issues the Commissioning Plan for approval to the appropriate parties. * Verifies deficiencies are corrected and submits commissioning documentation to owners. * Provides mentoring to less experienced co-workers. * Creates M/E tools and innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and work products. * Negotiates subcontracts with subcontractors. * Purchases equipment from equipment vendors for assigned projects. * Builds relationships by being the direct face with the client. * Participates in interviews for winning work, presentations and business development efforts. * Represents the M/E department and JE Dunn at external community events. * Assumes responsibility for resource allocation, staffing of their assigned projects and ensuring reimbursability requirements are met. * Leads, supports and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.
