Raytheon seeks an experienced professional Mechanical Engineer/Structural Analyst committed to providing top-quality electronics products for the nation's defense, in a cooperative and collaborative work environment.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer I will conduct structural analysis for electronic systems primarily related to antenna products at multiple levels of maturity (IRAD, CRAD, development, and production), often as a part of a larger design/analysis team. They will collaborate with the analysis team to help and direct analysis activities and facilitate learning. Analysis tasks will typically involve electronics hardware designs for static and dynamic strength, stiffness, fatigue, and thermos-elastic behavior. More advanced analysis techniques will be learned as required. Analysis support will be provided through all phases of the program life-cycle, from proposal, to conceptual design/requirements derivation, to PDR/CDR, and build/test/delivery. The position also requires developing and understanding structural requirements for electronic systems. The Senior Mechanical Engineer I will work to influence the efficiency and suitability of the structural design and will support internal design reviews.

4+ years of experience performing structural analysis or equivalent educational background
Familiarity with commercial Finite Element Analysis codes, preferably ABAQUS, but NASTRAN/PATRAN, ANSYS, or similar will be considered
Experience with using hand-calculations for structural analysis
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Occasional travel is required
Knowledge of commercial CAD software, such as Pro/E, Solidworks, or Unigraphics
Ability to read detailed engineering drawings and specifications, including understanding of GD&T
Fatigue/fracture mechanics experience
Programming experience in Matlab, Python, C++, or Visual Basic
Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with ability to discuss technical material with others in a teaming environment
Ability to solve difficult problems by applying basic scientific principles, theories and concepts
Existing Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
Required Education: Must have a B.S. or higher from an ABET accredited university with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or other related field
Desired Education: M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field from accredited university
