HFA is in search of a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years in building design, specifically focusing on healthcare projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in leading engineering design efforts across various projects while also mentoring and developing other engineers within the team and across the organization.

HFA embraces a work from anywhere mindset. We can hire remotely for this position.

Their primary responsibilities will include spearheading mechanical system designs within hospital environments, encompassing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, medical gas, and plumbing systems. With a keen focus on healthcare and critical environments like laboratories and clean rooms, the candidate will manage the mechanical design aspect of complex projects in hospital, pharmaceutical, and laboratory facilities.

This role entails overseeing all project phases from proposal development through construction completion, with emphasis on budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, and specification writing.

Additionally, the candidate will coordinate with Electrical Engineers on electrical system integration and prepare Construction Documents related to mechanical system installations.

Effective communication skills are essential, as the candidate will be required to articulate complex engineering concepts to clients, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.

Job Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Engineer has gained broad experience in multiples projects and/or client types or garnered enough experience in a single project and/or client type to be seen as an expert in that particular area.

  • Engineer has the ability to lead a client/client team (1-5 staff), any project type, or be lead.

  • Engineer for large project utilizing their experience and education in HVAC, Controls, and/orPlumbing design.

  • Engineer should have a complete understanding of energy codes and their impact on building designs.

  • Engineer should have a thorough understanding of Revit and Trane Trace, including energy analysis.

  • Engineer can work in an independent manner on any project and/or client types with minimal to no oversight by Engineer or Team Lead.

  • Engineer should have a thorough knowledge of all (or most) HVAC systems, whether simple or complex, as well as the associated controls.

  • Engineer should have a complete knowledge of sewer, gas, and water systems and fully understand the engineering related to each.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Engineer should be able to train employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and technical questions pertaining to HVAC, plumbing, energy codes, and Trane Trace

  • Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with Architects and other engineers to develop construction documents based on a clients' requirements, including all phases of a project.

  • Engineer will be able to provide final quality control of their projects and others.

  • Engineer will have direct client contact, unless in a strictly technical role for the company.

  • Engineer will establish project budgets, with the approval of Electrical Team Lead, and work with

  • Team Lead to ensure those projects are financially successful, unless in a strictly technical role for the company.

  • Engineer should serve as Engineer of Record.

  • Engineer should be licensed in more than 10 states.

  • Engineer should be able to write specifications for any project type.
