The Senior Mechanical Designer will work on project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including process, corporate, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, microgrids, government and military facilities. The Senior Mechanical Designer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting mechanical plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs.
A Senior Mechanical Designer will lead various phases of planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, design documents for proposals, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of construction documentation and mechanical plans as part of a project team. This position will lead various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.+ Lead a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components, and refining rough sketches.
Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.+ Lead design on a variety of projects pertaining to governmental, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and other clients ranging from facility modifications to new facilities.+ Quality review PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written description from the design engineer.+ Quality review basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the mechanical discipline.+ Lead drawing, planning, development and production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.+ Evaluate designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects for quality assurance.+ Approve reports, drawings, and tests to plan and lead design projects to meet deliverables.+ Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements.+ Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.+ Compute calculations for layouts, equipment, and schematics under the direction of the engineer.+ Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into mechanical design and layouts for project financial goals.+ Responsible for the quality review of all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.+ Train, mentor, and develop less experienced drafting, detailing and design staff members.+ Participate in marketing and client development meetings.+ Responsible for the mechanical design QA/QC process.
