Position Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Position Reports to: Director of Engineering

Location: Fargo Jet Center - Fargo, ND

Primary Operational Objectives:

This rewarding position involves product development design, testing, and manufacturing support. Also includes project management duties such as scheduling, cross-functional team interaction, leadership, and more. Maintain communication between necessary parties and managing continuous improvement and cost reduction projects are also key aspects of this role.

Essential Job Functions:

• Follow complex instructions and diagrams to create or modify drawings using company and aerospace industry drafting standards

• Coordinate with designers, technicians, and other team members to incorporate concepts and information into CAD models and associated engineering drawings

• Work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal oversight

• Partner with external FAA DER (Designated Engineering Representative) personnel to provide drawings and installation data for their analysis required to generate FAA 8110-3 forms

• Accuracy and effectiveness in mechanical and electrical drafting using Solid Works

• Explain drawings to the Part 145 shop teams and engineers to provide adjustments if necessary, through the use of ECR (Engineering Change Request) form

• Interpret specifications for process and hardware requirements IAW aerospace standards

• Occasional travel may be required to local vendors for technical support of components being fabricated for the PMA operation

• Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required

• Product development & design through the use of SolidWorks modeling experience required

• 1+ year of experience scheduling and managing projects

• Experience with SolidWorks CAD (5000 hours)

• GD&T, FMEA, dimensional tolerance stack-up experience and application preferred

• Experience in the application of engineering project management tools and methodologies

• Strong desire to work on a variety of projects simultaneously

• Ability to work independently/self-directed as a member of a team

• Technical aptitude to lead projects with multi-disciplinary engineering resources

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Aircraft experience required

Physical Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally

• Certain duties require working in confined spaces
