Brand marketing is a strategic growth priority for Backcountry and we are expanding our brand marketing team as well as our MDF (Market Development Funding) program as it relates to vendor contributions. In order to grow our MDF program and become more sophisticated in our approach to driving these initiatives, we are looking for a Senior Manager MDF to help support and shape the future of this program. The MDF program is critical to the growth of the company and a lynchpin of our 3 year plan.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of Backcountry's brand efforts. This role will support the execution of our brand strategy, ensuring all touch-points across the brand and business are aligned. The Senior Manager MDF will help plan and execute a go-to-market plan to extend the reach of our brand through the MDF lens and deliver on our commitments to vendor partners.
This is a cross-functional position that will need to partner closely with a number of internal and external teams, including merchandising, creative, user experience, analytics and our Gearhead program. This position will also be external-facing, and be the primary stakeholder in MDF vendor relationships.
About the Job:
Manage all of Backcountry's current brand activities related to our Marketing Development Fund and vendor relationships program
Strategically evolve the program to deliver more value to our vendors and Backcountry
Support the implementation of Backcountry's strategic brand positioning
A passion for brand development and an ambition to build a unique and differentiated leading brand in the outdoor space
Incredible relationship management skills as this role will interface with dozens of great brands in the outdoor industry
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5+ years experience in a brand marketing or equivalent / relevant role
A collaborator at heart - this is a cross-functional role that requires partnership with multiple teams across the business
Ability to juggle multiple projects with ease and perform under pressure with a strong attention to detail
A hands on approach that is happy to execute autonomously as well as manage external parties
Strong leadership skills, project management and people management skills
A unique blend of a customer-centric philosophy, structured and analytical problem solving with creative flair and imagination
Experience in an online environment
Experience managing a budget
A strong grasp of marketing strategy across digital channels
Experience with paid social channels and strategies a plus, understanding of paid social strategy at a minimum
A solid creative foundation and understanding of leisure and modern outdoor visual aesthetics
A "can-do" positive attitude
Demonstrated ability to thrive in an ever changing, sometimes chaotic environment
Ability to anticipate the needs of other team members to increase efficiencies
Ability to organize and coordinate different aspects of multiple projects at once
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to travel to tradeshows
