Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Master Data Analyst to join our Enterprise Finance Master Data team within Thomson Reuters in Eagan, MN. This position applies business process, analytical, and project management skills in a dynamic environment to support the SAP general ledger's operation. While the work is in a quasi-technical environment, the position provides insight into business finance operations, General Accounting operations, and both internal and external reporting. It exposes the analyst to a balanced view of accounting, finance, and financial system infrastructure.

Primary Objectives:

The position is responsible for the governance and accuracy of master data setup, which is critical to Thomson Reuters monthly financial information and management reporting. Additionally, this position is a resource regarding General Ledger Master Data issues with the organization's divisions and to promote a seamless customer interface experience.

The Senior Master Data Analyst position will work closely with the Business Units, Controllership and General Accounting operations colleagues across the world to ensure that business requirements are supported appropriately. This role will be responsible for high customer interface to build quality working relationships within the organization. Given the global reach of this business the individual should be an effective communicator.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Govern, establish and maintain Master Data databases within Thomson Reuters global SAP environment, including accurate and timely management of general ledger account, profit & cost center requests. Ensure master data setup is mapped accurately to consolidations system.

  • Provide business consulting & analytical support to help resolve customer questions and tickets on a range of SAP Master Data topics, including but not limited to, company code creations and closures.

  • Communicate with internal customers and stakeholders to ensure consistent application of Thomson Reuters' policies and procedures including adherence to Master Data design and operating principles.

  • Obtain a full understanding of system configured setups that impact SAP master data as well as upstream and downstream impacts of master data changes.

  • Special projects as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related degree is required

  • 6+ years of direct, progressive financial experience including interaction with Corporate and Business Unit executives in a dynamic, high volume business environment

  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements (international experience preferred)

  • Previous SAP experience with FI/CO and creation and maintenance of SAP Master Data elements preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word. Oracle DRM and/or Business Analytics reporting experience a plus

  • Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting in a global business operating with financial systems experience

  • Proficiency in establishing new client relationships and effectively managing existing relationships to meet the financial and business goals of the organization

  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for limited resources in a dynamic business environment

  • Ability to reason and think logically, analyze problems proactively; escalating situations as appropriate while responding to changing demands, priorities, procedures and technology.

  • Results oriented and delivering on objectives is crucial to establishing a reputation for high performance and customer satisfaction

  • Customer focus is key to success in this business environment, including proactive communications to support the client base

  • Effective communications skills in both oral and written forms with a competence in presenting in a professional and influential manner
