Overview:

Veeco is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Technician with primary responsibilities to assemble newly manufactured systems and subsystems on the manufacturing floor. To conduct diagnostic, setup configuration, calibration, mechanical fit, systems communications, and software configuration. Manage all manufacturing test data associated with Final Test and Source Acceptance Testing. Able to report and troubleshoot testing activity discrepancies and work with Engineering and R&D groups as required to resolve diverse & complex issues found during Final Test. Work with Manufacturing Engineering and other Test Technicians to resolve and close

Responsibilities:

  • Integrate and test complex optical and electro-mechanical subsystems into a higher-level system or process module

  • Perform mechanical and software installation, set up and adjustment following detailed work instructions and test plans

  • Diagnose and repair system performance issues using high precision electrical, optical and mechanical test equipment

  • Troubleshoot testing activity discrepancies

  • Work with Engineering and R&D groups as required to resolve diverse & complex issues found during Final Test

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Assembly Test Technicians to resolve and close issues

  • Manage all manufacturing test data associated with source acceptance testing

  • Compile statistical reports for each system during Final Test

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement. Identify and provide improvements of test methods for existing products and collaborate with Engineering to develop methodologies for new products/components

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting complex systems is required. Associate's degree or other related formal education preferred. Travel up to 50% between our Somerset, NJ and San Jose, CA locations is required for the first six months.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hardware, software, and control systems - Analog / D-Net is preferred

  • Experience with photolithography equipment and processes is preferred

  • SAP skills that range from simple inquiries to complex reports and transactions (MM, PP modules)

  • Ability to perform statistical data analysis

  • Skills in identifying and resolving recurring problems

  • Possesses interpersonal skills to interface with other technicians, engineering, management, customers, sales and marketing

  • Willingness to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required to meet company revenue requirements

  • Military experience a plus

  • Mechanical Engineer background a plus

  • Systems Test Engineer

  • Final Test Engineer

  • Systems Specialist

Responsibilities: * Integrate setup and test complex optical and electro-mechanical subsystems into a higher-level system or process module * Perform mechanical and software installations and execute precision set-ups and adjustments following detailed work instructions * Diagnose and repair system performance issues using high precision electrical, optical and mechanical test equipment * Troubleshoot testing activity discrepancies, and design and conduct formal test plans * Work with Development Engineering as required resolving diverse & complex issues found during Final Test * Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Assembly Test Technicians to resolve and close issues * Manage all manufacturing test data associated with source acceptance testing of a process module * Compile statistical reports for each system during Final Test * Participate in Continuous Improvement. Identify and provide improvements of test methods for existing products and collaborate with Engineering to develop methodologies for new products/components Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical area with 5 years of hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting complex systems; or a Master's Degree and 3 years of experience is required. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ability to travel up to 50% between our Somerset, NJ and San Jose, CA locations for the first six months is required.
