About This Role:

The Senior Manufacturing Operator produces high quality products through the efficient and effective operation of manual/semi-automated assembly and injection molding equipment and supports training other Operators as needed.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:

  • Trains manufacturing operators on machines and equipment. Tracks training progress through the training matrix database.

  • Reads the daily production plan and orders parts or material accordingly.

  • Performs data collection and data entry. Enters nonconforming parts, scrap, and production data into specified Access and Excel files at the end of each shift. Enters scrap and finished goods production information into JD Edwards throughout assigned shift.

  • Operates assigned machines and assembly equipment to meet production schedules. Identifies and makes necessary adjustments to the equipment to maintain efficiency and quality standards.

  • Performs inspections and functional testing throughout the molding assembly or machining process to determine the quality of parts or subassemblies. Acts as first line of inspection.

  • Rotates through all the tasks required in assigned production processes, follows all standard operating procedures (SOP)/ specific work instructions.

  • Coordinates with the supervisors when problems with the parts or equipment errors occur. Provides detailed communication of problems to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

  • Communicates effectively to support continuous process improvement.

  • Adheres to all company and departmental safety procedures, including use of personal protective equipment when necessary. Does not operate machinery when guarding is not in place.

  • Complies with good housekeeping practices and maintains a clean and safe work environment. Cleans assigned machines as directed. During cleanup activities, looks for indications of machine problems and notifies appropriate personnel of findings.

  • Monitors Kan Ban and inventory levels on the manufacturing floor to ensure the continuous flow of parts/materials to production.

  • Provides support and assistance in all areas of the manufacturing department as needed including other departments such as the Distribution Center, Automated Engineering, Maintenance and Marketing departments.

  • Meets standardized cycle times on machines and assembly equipment.

Education/Training Required and Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required and Preferred:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to comprehend work instructions.

  • Understanding of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance.

  • Ability to work within a team environment and demonstrate professional behavior.

  • Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete work tasks thoroughly.

  • Basic proficiency with computers, and the ability to perform data entry, view electronic procedures, and pass training courses.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.

  • Ability to use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.

  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use arithmetic. Must be able to accurately perform mathematical calculations and use a weight counting scale.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with members across the organization.

  • Must be able to work overtime when required.
