SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (Additive Manufacturing) Tanner, AL
This position will support our Additive Manufacturing Emerging Technology Center
PRIMARY DUTIES
Direct the upgrade, rebuild, installation and start-up of process equipment. Provides leadership and expertise in the development of new equipment specifications. Lead the analysis of key process measures and determine major issues and their root causes and implement effective solutions. Provide expertise, input, and guidance as well as sound problem solving to cross functional teams. Manage large, complex cross-functional capital projects. Define project scope and select and manage team members from within and outside their work group or department.
Lead the implementation of plans, actions, and measurements to achieve goals and objectives. Lead the development and implementation of strategies for health, safety and environmental matters, and understand the impact of regulatory compliance issues.
Manage outside resources including contractors, equipment vendors, and supply vendors for assigned projects. Works within and leads the development of appropriate standards, specifications, and procedures, including but not limited to those required for production, technical, safety, and environmental activities.
Lead the definition of equipment engineered rates. Identify the need for new process equipment and recommend/justify the purchase. Lead the parts and supply development and reverse engineering processes.
Provides leadership, coaching and training to less experienced Engineers. Identifies opportunities for OEE improvements and leads OEE improvement initiatives.
Performs other duties and specials projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Four-year college degree in an Engineering discipline preferred. Two Year college degree with a focus on mechanical design/machines/operations emphasis will be considered.
8+ years of proven engineering support experience required. Experience with AM production, furnaces, Hot Isostatic Presses, machine shop (CNC and manual milling, surface grinders) preferred.
Proven track record effectively managing projects and teams, including coordination of resources outside of area of responsibility. Knowledge of manufacturing systems, including the computer systems, steel making processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems and process control techniques a plus. Working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated experience facilitating Kaizen events and other continuous improvement activities in a manufacturing environment.
Requires excellent written, verbal, mechanical, interpersonal skills, problem solving, project management skills and experience training and developing others.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, interpret personnel rules, laws, policies and plans. Ability to work independently and with appreciable latitude for decision making and judgment.
Ability to work with minimal guidance in a fast-paced and ever-changing production environment. Ability to organize and prioritize work and make appropriate decisions.
