An exciting opportunity to have a key role in UK WorldClimate Sustainability team to support our journey to net zero. Working closely with the UK CSO (Chief Sustainability Officer), the UK Head of Sustainability and the NSE (North-South Europe) Head of Engagement, the UK Head of Engagement will be central to empowering people engagement and behavioral change to support our long-term transition to net zero. Importantly this role will be responsible for defining people engagement approaches, implementation plan and delivery requirements to ensure we integrate sustainability across all of our people interactions across the firm. This role will be required to collaborate with, influence and integrate with internal stakeholders as well as understand the emerging external landscape.

This role is within the UK WorldClimate team with a focus on delivering internal sustainability strategy. The resource will lead the evolution, implementation and delivery of our UK people engagement approach. They will also actively engage with and share their learnings across NSE, in support of Deloitte NSE's broader WorldClimate objectives.

Programme implementation

  • Outline, shape and deliver implementation approach/programme of the people engagement elements of WorldClimate strategy.

  • Work with Internal teams and businesses to fully embed sustainability (nudges) across all aspects of business/operations to better enable changes in people behaviour and experiences - e.g. Sustainable delivery/business travel

  • Develop means to track progress against our strategic plan - both through actions taken and impact had - to enable the continual review and refinement

  • Develop and evolve 'leading practices' on people engagement - including tools, assets, communities/groups, behaviour change approaches and solutions

  • Build strong relationships with internal UK stakeholders across all elements of the people journey, employee lifecycle, such as attraction/recruitment, onboarding and goal setting/reward/promotions, to ensure WorldClimate is incorporated within their narrative and sustainable behaviours are known as a standard part of everyone's role

  • Build strong relationships with a range of UK stakeholders related to People engagement including Internal and External Communications, Brand, HR, Learning, People & Purpose & MDM Sustainability

  • Proactively engage with, lead and support on NSE engagement programme/initiatives. Including building strong relationships across NSE geographies related to people engagement.

  • Support ad hoc projects, initiatives relating to Sustainability.

People communications

  • Develop/oversee the UK WorldClimate communications narrative (in line with NSE) and engagement approach collaborating closely with the Internal and External Comms, Creative Content and Marketing teams

  • Primary contact for all WorldClimate internal engagement activities in the UK

  • Oversee the delivery of campaigns in the UK that raise awareness of WorldClimate and advocate the importance of sustainable behaviours

  • Monitor and consider reputational risks in our people engagement approaches

Empowerment

  • Develop/oversee plans to upskill key decision makers on what sustainability means, the importance of this agenda, and actions they can take, so they can proactively support their teams to support our agenda, and engage their clients on WorldClimate

  • Establish and provide active leadership of the UK Climate Champions network - including chair network meetings, engagement with Climate Champion senior sponsors, engagement with NSE Climate Champions network

  • Keep abreast of external shift/changes/evolution in people engagement. Ensure people engagement approach remains in line with leading practice so we remain credible in the market

  • Identify partnerships/organisations/providers (working with NSE) that could be leveraged and/or support people engagement/empowerment. Oversee the implementation and use of tools/apps in the UK that drive more sustainable behaviours

People leadership

  • Provide day to day people leadership and oversight of UK Engagement and Partnerships team (c.2 FTE)
  • People leader responsibilities as well as development (inc. on the job learning)
  • Provide support to Head of Sustainability on wider team and People & Purpose responsibilities.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

  • A proven record of accomplishment in delivering people engagement and behaviour change programmes

  • Practical experience, credentials, qualification in people behaviour change is desirable

  • Strong network across the firm and externally to drive change and empowerment - operational/functional, business, services and people

  • Strong team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and build relationships based on mutual trust and respect. Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders as well as getting best out of extended teams.

  • Strong communications skills with a good grasp of firm values, risk management and behavioural change

  • Ability to lead, develop and inspire a virtual (formal and informal) teams

  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, (e.g. ability to be concise and impactful) particularly a high level of written/spoken English

  • Energetic, enthusiastic, a passion for sustainability

You'll be based anywhere in the UK (apart from London) with hybrid working. Our hybrid model enables our people to collaborate, connect and innovate in both a virtual and physical capacity.
