The Senior Manager, Transportation is responsible for all operations associated with transportation plans and logistics function for the organization. This position oversees storage and movement of goods and/or supplies and also establishes policies and procedures governing transportation operations. This role manages the Specialist, Transportation as well as vendor relationships, resolving quality, shipping, and invoicing issues.

  • WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Transportation Management

  • Oversee all storage and movement of goods or supplies.

  • Establish policies and procedures governing transportation.

  • Assess departmental performance, identify weaknesses or risk, and suggest operational changes to improve efficiency or reduce cost.

  • Analyze and solve operational barriers with a focus on understanding root cause analysis and driving forward opportunities

  • Contribute to strategic planning, direction and goal setting for the department

Vendor Management

  • Manage vendor relationships to resolve quality, shipping, or invoicing issues

  • Proactively manage and monitor transportation network to identify potential issues, on-time arrival and delivery and vendor related issues

  • Develop and maintain standards and SLA's with carrier and vendors during daily management and process improvement

  • Evaluate prospective vendors, select the best vendors for the needs of the business, manage through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process to the vendor selection and negotiate the final contract

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to optimize supply chain, increase operational effectiveness and improve customer satisfaction

  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field

  • Required
  • Master's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business or related field
  • Preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experienced in

  • Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations in a large distribution or fulfillment center with experience managing a site and leading others

  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and management of third-party vendors/carriers

Licenses & Certifications

  • APICS CPIM, CSCP or CLTD- Preferred

Software/Technical Skills

  • Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software - business process management software, such as Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or Microsoft Dynamics AX

Other Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • … Ability to negotiate skillfully to arrive at agreements that benefit the company

  • Outstanding customer insight and service

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and lead projects to closure

  • Proven leadership, problem solving skills, along with the ability to work independently

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills that can be tailored to different audiences and environments

  • Understanding and in-depth knowledge of domestic transportation industry best practices

  • Working knowledge of the 3PL industry and the standard minimum service features of the business

  • Ability to think strategically and make appropriate decisions and recommendations

The salary (or hiring) range for this position is $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

  • Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data

  • This position is eligible to participate in the relevant Brother variable pay incentive plan(s). Applicable bonus awards are discretionary and contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its corporate and business-level objectives
