Your Mission

The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Management Reporting is a critical role in the corporate controller & accounting office as well as the worldwide Finance Team. Overall, the responsibility of this role is to (1) ensure that we have complied with all accounting requirements under US GAAP, with a special focus on revenue recognition and the application of new accounting standards to support our emerging business models, (2) ownership of our forecasted GAAP guidance we provide to the investment community quarterly, and (3) analyze consolidated results and support reporting of results to senior management (CFO, COO, CEO) and the Board of Directors. The individual will work closely with the business units to ensure a deep understanding of our business activities and results, address accounting and finance related issues and developments, and will have close interaction with the senior leadership team.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Perform technical research and consult with management and the external auditors to ensure that proper accounting treatment is applied and documented for all revenue transactions, including unusual and non-recurring transactions

  • Provide ownership around key quarterly management reporting materials that analyze actual results vs forecast and prior year;

  • Oversee the Manager, Technical Accounting and Revenue Recognition, and work closely with the financial planning team to develop and present the GAAP forecast

  • Work closely with a Senior Accountant to manage and own company wide bonus program calculations and results, with results presented to senior management

  • Work in partnership with business units to provide support and guidance for potential new business models and revenue streams

  • Consider implication of new accounting pronouncements on our current policy and standards and provide leadership on the adoption of such standards;

  • Provide training to accounting, finance, and business teams on new and existing accounting standards, as relevant

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements:

  • CPA with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • Minimum experience of 7 or 8 years with one of the Big 4 accounting firms and/or commercial experience at the Senior Manager level with a strong track record of technical accounting and research

  • Strong US GAAP and accounting skills required, most notably in the area of revenue recognition, with the ability to summarize accounting issues in easy-to-follow formats

  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking with the ability to analyze financial results

  • Strong communication and presentation skills - able to interface with C level executives

  • Able to effectively manage team members and prioritize tasks

Extra Points:

  • Strong understanding of SEC / external reporting

  • Broad background in dealing with different companies and issues

The Senior Manager of Technical Accounting is a highly visible position regraded as a technical expert, actively involved in leading or participating in initiatives that support Fair's business strategy. Such initiatives include assisting in the redesign or strengthening of accounting policies and processes that contribute to more efficient growth and operational effectiveness. Responsibilities: * Develop and disseminate technical accounting guidance and clearly and logically document the results of research and complex analyses and related conclusion; * Provide transaction-oriented accounting and reporting assistance; * Ensure the proper application of U.S. GAAP and assisting the financial reporting team with the preparation of financial reports and disclosures; * Work proactively and collaboratively with business and finance leaders to understand current and on-going business negotiations or key contract terms and conduct research and evaluate the accounting treatment for proposed business transactions; * Journaling and operationalization of complex transactions; * Develop and oversee the implementation of new accounting standards and accounting policies; * Develop and deliver corporate-wide finance and accounting training; * Participate in due diligence with regard to mergers and acquisitions; * Provide accounting guidance to Treasury team with respect to debt, equity and derivative transactions; * Responsible for implementation and maintenance of internal controls over Technical Accounting * Anticipate and identify complex accounting issues, provide conclusions or alternative solutions, and work closely with supervisor and external auditors in resolving issues timely; * Engage and collaborate with external advisors or consultants on complex or highly subjective financial reporting elements; Required Qualifications: * 8-10 years of experience including public accounting experience at the manager/senior manager level * Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA required. * Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP; an in-depth knowledge of Automotive Finance-specific accounting preferred * Should be well versed in the application of GAAP, with experience relating to such areas as: business combinations, revenue recognition, lease accounting, asset impairments, stock-based compensation, segment reporting, and debt accounting. * Demonstrates expertise in appropriate accounting treatment and reporting policies of routine and complex transactions * Able to consistently make decisions in a timely manner based on the best available information and under tight deadlines and pressure * Comfortable challenging organizational norms and accepted thinking to improve effectiveness * Team player that has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels of management in a non-technical manner * Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills * Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and manage such projects to a timely and successful completion.
