The objective of the position is to assist the Senior Director Tax Operations to (1) enhance the tax reporting expertise for Bunge and (2) manage the quarterly and annual global income tax accounting close process, (3) provide tax accounting training and support to the regions, and (4) assist in tax special projects involving US & Non-US technical analysis, modeling of book and cash tax consequences of international tax planning strategies, and project management and execution support for implementation .
The focus will be on improving the global standardized tax reporting process, assisting in the quarterly and annual close process, providing tax accounting training and support, and managing special global tax projects.
Assist in managing the quarterly & annual global income tax reporting including but not limited to FIN 48, deferred tax assets and liabilities, valuation allowances, SEC tax footnotes and disclosures, Sarbanes Oxley controls as they relate to income tax reporting and management reporting. Assist in the preparation of analysis of ETR and related footnotes and provide tax accounting training and support the regions.
Assist and manage tax special projects, including effective tax rate and cash tax planning analysis, liaise with outside advisors overseeing the annual transfer pricing documentation compliance process, assist in transfer pricing planning initiatives and engage in research, transaction modeling and project management.
Operative understanding of tax cycle from planning through audit
Comprehensive understanding of the impact of US and foreign taxes on the financial statements
Experience with the tax accounting impact of complex tax transactions
Experience managing a large, global income tax provision process
Ability to model tax impacts of transactions
Understanding the impacts of differing tax laws and principles in multiple countries on transactions
Basic understanding of tax systems capabilities
Passion for understanding processes and continuous process improvement
Problem solving skills involving disparate sources of data
Experience with financial transactions a plus
Ability to communicate (oral and written) complex tax topics to an audience with limited tax background
Curiosity and passion for understanding complex facts, distilling into written and analytical forms
Undergraduate or advanced degree in accounting. Advanced tax degree or law degree would be a plus.
6-10 years of experience with ASC 740 and tax planning in a large, multi-national, corporate tax or accounting firm environment
Preferably CPA certification
Good interpersonal skills, including ability and desire to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with others throughout Finance organization
Self motivated, able to work independently and under pressure, i.e. sense of urgency
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good business sense and creative problem solving skills
Willingness to engage in a broad range of activities necessary to support the tax planning function
