GEICO seeks a Senior Manager to transform our SOX and MAR processes to improve efficiency, reporting and monitoring. The successful candidate will have passion and a proven track record for success in understanding and improving business processes as well as identifying risks and potential gaps in relevant controls. This is a high-impact and high-visibility role requiring a critical thinker. This position reports to a member of the Controls, Compliance and Internal Audit Team. Location:

This hybrid role involves on-site presence 3 days per week at one of our office locations in Chevy Chase, MD, New York, NY, Chicago, IL, and Dallas, TX.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Team Management:

  • Transform existing SOX/MAR program to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the process and underlying controls.

  • Partner with Business control owners and lead cross-functional teams to assess, design, ensure compliance, and remediate controls gaps.

  • Manage the SOX/MAR team supporting internal controls assessment, design, compliance, and remediation.

Governance, Compliance, and Process Improvement:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for SOX/MAR requirements.

  • Develop materials for and conduct training sessions for employees on SOX compliance.

  • Collaborate with business leaders and external auditors to assess controls, report gaps and develop action plans to close gaps.

  • Produce reports that meaningful outline strengths and gaps for various levels in the company.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process enhancement and automation.

Collaboration and Alignment:

  • Work closely with business partners and corporate functions to ensure consistency in SOX/MAR practices.

Regulatory Compliance and Representation:

  • Stay informed on financial regulations and industry standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations.

Communication and Presentation:

  • Provide/review periodic and ad hoc presentations for various stakeholders.

  • Communicate SOX controls and processes clearly and effectively.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business or relevant experience.

  • 8 + years of expertise in SOX auditing and reporting.

  • Experience transforming complex processes with a proven track record of improving efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment with competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in finance or accounting (CPA, CFE, CIA, or other certifications are a plus).

Annual Salary

$118,000.00 - $207,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
