HomeNet, a Cox Automotive Brand, is currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our Product Engineering team in Exton, PA.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing leadership and guidance for software engineering teams. Additionally, the Engineering Manager coaches, motivates, and leads team members to their optimum performance levels and career development. This includes all of the customary HR-related duties: hiring, performance reviews, recognition & rewards, issue/conflict resolution, career development, performance planning, etc.
The Engineering Manager is the individual who is responsible and accountable for the successful design, execution, and timely delivery of products and product features that are robust, flexible, scalable, secure, and high-quality. In addition, the Engineering Manager has responsibility for a portfolio of multiple products, and is responsible not only for each product within that portfolio, but for the consistency of vision and execution across all products within the portfolio. These responsibilities include meeting all functional requirements from the Product Owners, as well as supporting the overall technology strategy of the Product Engineering team. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for guiding and mentoring their Product Development Team in all aspects of the development process: agile ceremonies, technology and coding standards, appropriate use of tools and processes, and product quality initiatives. Additionally, they will provide organizational leadership, being responsible for all of the HR-related duties: hiring, performance reviews, issue/conflict resolution, career development, performance planning, etc.
The Engineering Manager must maintain expert knowledge of internal and external systems. Engineering Manager are also responsible for researching, demonstrating and providing guidance on emerging technologies and industry trends. Along with strong technical skills, the Engineering Manager must have a tenacious desire to learn and understand business principles, concepts and strategy.

Ownership and accountability to form, maintain, and share the vision of the product portfolio, including the establishment of consistent patterns and practices across products within the portfolio
Work with Product Managers and other Engineering Managers to develop and maintain product roadmaps defining overall product strategy, release plans showing how engineering will implement against that strategy and status boards showing progress against plans
Clearly and succinctly communicate the priorities and plans to the team
Identify and gather data, metrics and KPIs that you will then use to identify and close gaps in processes and performance throughout the entire SDLC.
Foster and strengthen the current collaborative, "can do" work environment
Effectively balance/prioritize technology debt with business priorities.
Ensure software is being built in an iterative manner so that value is realized early and often.
Utilize innovative approaches to solve complex technical problems and apply advanced technical principles, theories and concepts to develop products.
Understand the interdependencies of various systems within and across projects.
Manage,prioritize, and execute multiple concurrent software development projects.
Evaluate new technologies and explore how they can be leveraged
Collaborate with other Managers in Product Engineering (and their counterparts within other Cox Automotive companies) to develop common, core patterns and practices across platforms, as appropriate
Ownership and accountability for the design, delivery, testing, and quality for all work performed by the team
Work in conjunction with other teams to understand business requirements, project goals, produce appropriate design artifacts, create epics & backlogs, facilitate agile activities, functional and system requirements, work schedules and estimates, and other activities as required to support the company's growth
Address system quality as it relates to application architecture, such as efficiency or availability, and recommend solutions
Advocate and enforce adoption of architecture standards such as technical design patterns and canonical data models
Drive application rationalization, developing multi-year application architecture roadmaps
Evaluate emerging technologies and the evolution of current technologies to define a future vision roadmap for optimal application of technology to meet business needs
Provide technical thought leadership
Drive change, embracing and evangelizing appropriate evolution in IT
Communicate clearly, strongly and effectively to small and large groups
Share Enterprise Architecture knowledge with project teams, while exposing project-related architectural issues to the architecture team
Establish yourself as a trusted technical advisor with key internal and external stakeholders
Other responsibilities as required to support the company's growth
Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience in Web or SaaS environments
Minimum 5 years experience developing large-scale software systems
Minimum 5 years experience with distributed or microservices architectures
Experience with XML, JSON, SOAP, REST, SOA and/or microservices architecture
Thorough understanding of relational and noSQL database technologies
Strong knowledge of object-oriented design concepts and design patterns
