About the team and position

The Safe & Secure Operations Team (SSOT) helps to keep our 20,000+ associates, who work at our 200+ various locations, Safe and Secure every day. The Safe & Secure Operations Team develops our physical security strategy, technology, remote processes, and ensures each site is prepared to deliver a Safe & Secure environment from day one of operations. Our technology is the foundation upon which we strive to create efficiency. This technology also fuels our Remote Operations Center (ROC). The ROC leverages data to monitor our sites both proactively and reactively to provide risk mitigation and crisis management support.

This position is responsible for the success of our Remote Operations Center, as well as the programs and services it provides to the organization. Candidates must be comfortable working in a highly complex, fast paced, and collaborative culture. Leveraging their strong knowledge of physical security protocols and technology, the Senior Manager of the ROC will oversee a team of coordinators to ensure the needs of our fast growing business are met.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, direct and oversee the 24/7/365 Remote Operations Center (ROC) and their respective teams (associate and salaried level) who reside in multiple locations.

  • Develop and own the ROC strategy to meet the current and emerging needs of a dynamic environment.

  • Develop, implement and maintain standardized operating procedures for ROC Teams to ensure efficiency and effectiveness is at the forefront.

  • Excel at managing multiple priorities and escalating significant high risk issues to senior-level management as necessary, while providing effective recommendations to ensure our teams are safe and business operations are maintained.

  • Be able to develop & implement ROC technology capabilities, optimizing security preparedness, incident reporting, risk monitoring, travel safety, and emergency response.

  • Develop and monitor KPIs to evaluate the organization's performance and institute action plans to mitigate lagging KPI performance.

  • Develop and implement solutions centered on tactical/actionable intelligence and the value it brings to the organization.

  • Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications, networking, and participation in professional organizations.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop a staffing model to ensure clear career progression from entry-level personnel to advanced leadership personnel.

  • Closely collaborate with other Safe & Secure teams and their leadership.

  • Closely collaborate with business operating teams to ensure specific needs of partners are met while maintaining proper security plans

  • Be comfortable gathering and evaluating open-source intelligence, analysis, and reporting best practices.

  • Develop, oversee and manage a ROC that can distribute threat intelligence, alert on natural disasters and facilitate a safe experience for traveling employees.

  • Develop risk assessments for Carvana properties (HQ, offices, IC's, Adesa, Hubs and VM's ).. These assessments include lighting in the premises, security, gate control, safety, access measures, VIP or High Value Target individuals.

  • Develop ways to improve the efficiency among the associates and their performances

  • Lead and develop ROC staff and other members of the security operations team to meet individual and departmental goals.

  • Develop, lead and ensure the effectiveness and continued improvement of all aspects of ROC operations, emergency coordination and response.

  • Work with Safe and Secure Senior Leaders to develop and maintain critical administrative and emergency response/coordination procedures.

  • Develop projects to create new services, improve existing procedures, or implement solutions to improve ROC efficiency and company-wide safety initiatives.

  • Develop ways to continuously improve the ROC's high level of expectations and key performance indicators, by measuring results against standards; and making necessary adjustments.

  • Develop and coordinate training for ROC staff including new hire training, ongoing development, training exercises, and drills.

  • Maintain visibility and ownership of all systems monitored by the ROC, and coordinate with internal customers to establish and meet expectations.

  • Gather, maintain, and analyze data to identify potential threats/vulnerabilities and improve the ROC's performance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you should have

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (ideally in business, finance or criminal justice).

  • 8 to 12 years of experience working in the security industry, preferably in a ROC/SOC/GSOC environment.

  • 8+ years of people leadership experience.

  • Global perspective and the ability to build effective networks.

  • Proven track record of implementing change across multiple businesses/units

  • Proven track record of leading teams

  • Advanced influencing skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Self-starter's mentality.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Google Suites, and Tableau.

It would be great if you also had

  • Master's Degree from an accredited graduate school or university (preferably in business, finance, or security).

  • Experience performing threat and vulnerability assessments.

  • Budgetary experience.

  • Experience using Genetec, DataMinr, Everbridge, DNA fusion.

  • Experience supporting security functions at remote sites.

  • Advanced understanding of security technology.
