The Microsoft Public Affairs team manages external communications on a diverse set of issues at the intersection of technology, public policy, and societal impact. This includes issues such as privacy, security, public policy, environmental sustainability, accessibility, corporate social responsibility, legal affairs, litigation, and corporate philanthropy. As a result, we work every day on the issues that drive media cycles and broad public discussion about the impact of technology around the world. We work to help increase understanding of the issues, shine a light on the work that the company is doing, and demonstrate Microsoft's commitment to building trust with all of our stakeholders including governments, civil society, customers, and partners. We're a multi-disciplinary team with communications, corporate marketing, and government affairs professionals. We work hard to push the boundaries of communications and to test and learn in a rapidly changing industry and company.

We're looking for an experienced professional to manage communications on the topics of privacy and security.

You'll be joining both the Microsoft Public Affairs team and the broader Microsoft Communications team. You'll therefore be joining a large, diverse group of professionals focused on innovation in communications, a passion for experimentation, and a commitment to creating an environment in which communications professionals can grow their careers.

The position is based in Redmond, Washington and reports to the Director of Public Affairs for privacy and security.

  • A minimum of 10 years in communications roles in a corporate environment, government, media, advocacy groups, or a top tier agency environment.

  • Media management and media relations experience, including with top tier outlets.

  • Exceptional written communications skills and a passion for creative storytelling in a digital environment.

  • Experience managing or working with an agency team.

  • Strong knowledge and experience with social media.

  • A focus on details and the ability to manage multiple, high-profile projects and deliverables.

  • Calm under pressure, and the ability to respond under tight deadlines.

  • Outstanding judgement with a strong sense of how an issue might play out with reporters.

  • Experience in technology or public policy (or both) is desirable.

  • A blend of editorial, project management and cross-group collaboration skills

  • BS/BA degree required

This is a high-profile role, working in close partnership senior leaders in Microsoft's Corporate, External and Legal Affairs team (CELA), the communications function, and the broader company. Responsibilities include:

What you will do As a Quality Regulatory Affairs Specialist, you will be responsible for determining reportability to the appropriate medical device authority for events that either contributed or could have contributed to adverse events. Review reports of customer complaints and assess them for regulatory reporting (US <30 days, International agencies as appropriate to the regulations).</p> * Work closely with device users, as well as with quality investigators and other cross functional teams on gathering required information to determine reportability. * Responsible for reviewing and approving investigations and closure of product inquiries. * Responsible for reviewing and approving of team members reportability decisions. * Responsible for drafting and submitting medical device reports. * Support initial and follow-up reports to device related Agencies on vigilance reports and incidents globally, as needed. * Support internal and external audits, as needed. What you need * A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A) is required. * A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical devices, medical industry, biologics and/or pharmaceutical field is required. * A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a Regulatory Affairs or Quality role. * Good analytical skills. * Good communication skills; oral and written. * High level of computer proficiency.
