JOB SUMMARY

This position is part of a team responsible for the strategy and product line P&L of the Cheese business in the USA/Canada within Glanbia Nutritionals. This position will be responsible for developing business initiatives spanning across innovation/ new product development, strategy, customer related opportunities and operational improvement projects, with a primary focus on developing and delivering the innovation strategy.

This position plays a key role in managing and directing development of the Cheese business, with an aim to both manage the profitability of the existing business and identify and execute on avenues to grow the business in the future. This position is a key link between supporting existing business and developing future growth.

This role involves working in a cross functional, global team on a day to day basis working across R&D, operations, finance and the commercial team to deliver on key elements of the strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a key member of the Cheese PSM team, responsible for the overall strategy and P&L of the Cheese business

  • Responsible for the innovation strategy and pipeline of new product in Cheese from overall strategy to execution of specific NPD projects

  • Responsible for developing business cases and clear financial return expectations for various business initiatives

  • Collaborates with the Insights team and other sources to build deep market knowledge of the cheese business from a customer, consumer and competitive standpoint in order to fully define the new target markets and opportunities.

  • Works with other departments to facilitate delivery of innovation, customer collaboration and operational improvement projects

  • Maintains relationships with key customers and participates in joint customer calls with sales as the product expert, with a focus on building demand for innovation related products with our customers

  • Be a member and leader of cross functional teams where necessary

  • Act as liaison for internal customers (sales, finance, customer service, purchasing, marketing, operations) for day-to-day product related strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training:

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree (Preferred Masters or MBA).

The ideal candidate must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills and an open mind to manage cross-functional teams.

Experience Required:
5-10 yrs. related experience within the food and/or ingredients space, preferably with knowledge of dairy products and/or ingredients.

Must be experienced in a product management, business development or similar commercial/ marketing role.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with co-workers, top management, internal and external customers including excellent writing and presentation skills.

  • Effective collaborator able to work in project teams and across changing structures within a high-growth business.

  • Effective organizational skills in scoping projects tracking projects, etc.

  • Ability to be resourceful in locating information needed to complete projects.

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently

TYPICAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

  • Involves moderate physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature.

  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Periodic domestic & international travel (estimated at 40-50%)
