The Sr. Program Manager, Office of General Counsel (OGC) Operations, is responsible for Legal Program Management and leading enterprise wide special projects affecting all aspects of the business. The Sr. Program Manager, OGC Operations is responsible for securing resources to support execution of projects and accountable for technical, cost and schedule performance of solutions delivered to the enterprise. The Sr. Program Manager will collaborate with all Practice Areas within the OGC team, Finance and other key stakeholders.
Institute Legal Project Management discipline within the OGC; lead change within Practice Areas to help OGC lawyers understand and adopt Legal Project Management tools and techniques including: Statements of Work, Matter Plans, Responsibility Matrices, budgets, timetables, earned value, performance analysis, after action reviews, lessons learned, etc.
Track progress against plan timetables and milestones, ensure that outside counsel is delivering timely, accurate and professionally polished budgets and progress reports.
Research practice area processes through discussions with attorneys for matter supported and identify key areas of improvement
Manipulate and analyze data using advanced Excel skills or other data analysis and reporting tools to present information.
When appropriate, act as the interface to outside counsel, external vendors and internal stakeholders
Assist managing attorneys, paralegals and associates with the invoice process, and provide status reports to leadership as required.
Perform research to evaluate and compare matter related data, and aggregate to create a decision grade knowledge base for future proposal and pricing matters.
Manage global, multi-dimensional projects, including pre-defined solutions, continuing to shape them and partner with various stakeholders to pilot and implement these initiatives against program timelines utilizing standard program management processes and tools.
Accountable for continuous improvement and measureable changes to internal processes in support of OGC strategy. Convert undefined, difficult and moderately complex opportunities into manageable, executable projects with measured performance.
Liaise and build relationships with key stakeholders (up to and including Vice Presidents) outside of and within the OGC and external parties such as vendors and regulators.
Create and manage project deliverables and prevailing decisions including: charters, scope definition, project plans, resource plans, master phasing schedules, integrated master schedules, status reports, project dashboards.
Provide deep functional knowledge and demonstrated experience with global change programs
Perform other duties as assigned by OGC Leadership
Minimum 12 years relevant experience
PMP Certification or equivalent
Demonstrated understanding and proficient use of program management processes and tools such as Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Integrated Master Plan (IMP) / Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Risk Management, Financial Forecasting, Estimates at Complete (EAC) or similar business processes
Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced, dynamic environment with time critical requirements
Ability to lead cross-functional teams; ability to lead without direct authority
Ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the team as well as customers and outside counsel
Proven effective change agent, able to energize organizations to achieve beyond expectation
Team builder that fosters collaborative relationships inside and outside of the company
Excellent written and oral presentation skills, with the ability to clearly, competently and succinctly convey key messages to senior leaders
Six-Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, OneNote, SharePoint) and other business applications
Ability to travel
3-5 years of project management experience within a professional, consulting or legal services environment
Demonstrated understanding of law firm financial and performance metrics, and the link between effective matter management, profitability, and delivering value
Knowledge in litigation and transactional matter lifecycles
Demonstrated experience converting undefined, difficult and moderately complex opportunities into manageable, executable projects
Proven track record in developing effective and lasting cross-functional partnerships
Builder of solutions that benefit the broader company
A strong working knowledge of varied Practice Areas and industry legal systems
Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent
Paralegal Certificate or J.D.
Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Business or Finance
