Job Summary:

As the Senior Manager of Product Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our product strategy. You will lead a team of skilled product managers, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from conception to end-of-life for a broad portfolio of leading HVAC products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for developing innovative HVAC solutions, driving best practices, and the ability to build and inspire a high-performing product management team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a team of product managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

  • Provide guidance and support to ensure the team meets and exceeds product development goals and objectives.

  • Establish and implement best practices for product management, ensuring efficient and effective processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Product Strategy and Roadmap:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy aligned with business objectives, market trends, and customer needs, with the goal of creating a compelling value proposition leading to a sustainable competitive advantage.

  • Define and communicate the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and customer expectations and coordination of any shared resources.

  • Prepare for and participate in periodic management meetings to articulate the strategy and align key stakeholders to the product vision and direction.

Cradle-to-Grave Product Ownership:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the product lifecycle, from initial concept through development, launch, and post-launch optimization.

  • Serve as subject matter expert for the assigned product portfolio, leveraging your team to manage the product, application, and regulatory matters impacting the business.

  • Collaborate with other departments including engineering, manufacturing, IT, operations, sales, and marketing, serving as the quarterback (leader) for the cross-functional team to ensure seamless coordination, successful product launches, and ongoing execution.

Market Analysis and Competitive Research:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to inform product strategy and identify new opportunities in current and adjacent market spaces.

  • Conduct in-depth market analysis and voice of customer (VOC) discovery research to identify areas for product improvement, including feature adds and new product variants.

  • Create and maintain robust market models using internal and external data sources to drive incisive choices around product investments.

Financial Performance and Pricing:

  • Prepare and present business cases in support of product investments, identifying appropriate financial measures and other KPIs to determine success.

  • Monitor and analyze market share data, providing insights and recommendations that enhance our competitive position.

  • Own and manage product pricing, ensuring the price architecture maximizes value capture in the marketplace and software price adjustments are executed accurately and timely.

Sales Support and Marketing Tools:

  • Support the development of sales selection software to optimize the sales process, ensuring the alignment of sales strategies with product offerings and ease of business.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling marketing collateral, brochures, technical literature, and presentations that effectively convey product value propositions.

  • Aid in the development of pertinent product training materials and participate in train the trainer sessions to equip sales and technical managers with the knowledge to train others.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineering to ensure the technical feasibility and alignment of product features with customer needs, representing customer voice in design reviews.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize production processes and ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery.

  • Engage with sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market and brand strategies, positioning, and promotional activities, and to coordinate effective product launch events.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree in engineering, or a related technical field and proven experience (10+ years) in product management within the HVAC industry, with a demonstrated success (3+ years) in building and leading a product management team. MBA is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Solid technical background with a deep understanding of HVAC systems, product development, and experience using various sales selection tools.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to navigate and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Team player (humble, hungry, and smart) with history of effective collaboration within a cross-functional product team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
