This position will be responsible to:

  • Prepare reference material and cost analysis for development of vendor strategies, vendor service reviews and negotiations.

  • Actively participate in phone, email and in-person communication and negotiation with marine service providers. This communication must be timely and professional.

  • Liaise with various internal departments to ensure common efforts to address issues and promote lowest possible cost and best service.

  • These departments include, but are not limited to, Cost Control, Port Operations, Logistics, Trade, and Sales.

  • Assist to develop and set vendor strategies for the team, lead negotiations when assigned, and assist to prioritize and direct team staff efforts.

  • Promote cost savings initiatives and keep supporting measurements. Prepare reports for management.

  • Maintain timely and accurate records of efforts and actions, and organize focus to ensure contract terms, incentives and expirations are monitored and leveraged to CMA Group benefit.

  • Work closely with Marseille Procurement, CCA legal and others to publish rate/contract documents, interpret contract application, and actively resolve open items and disputes.

  • Build strong working relationships both internally and with key suppliers, VSA partners and industry professionals.

  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

Skill Sets / Education & Experience

  • High Diploma required

  • Minimum of 6 years work experience with 4 years industry experience required.

  • Procurement, negotiation and cost management experience.

  • Experience developing or interpreting contracts.

  • Familiarity with Marine vendor invoices.

  • Staff management experience required.

  • Firm understanding of terminology related to Terminal and Port Operations.

  • Well-developed knowledge of Terminal, Port, and Intermodal Operations

  • Staff management experience preferred

  • Procurement experience preferred

  • Familiarity with marine and terminal contracts preferred

  • Strong written language skills

  • Confident presentation of self for in-person meetings and negotiations.

  • Require proficiency of Excel for creation and manipulation of Excel spreadsheets including formulas and pivot tables.

  • Require knowledge of Word and PowerPoint software.

  • Require self-driven individual who can work unsupervised for portions of a day or week.

  • Must have ability to shift quickly from topic to topic and prioritize work based on deadlines and level of urgency.

  • Must be able to investigate and analyze an issue to determine correct course of action

  • Demonstrated skills in vendor negotiations

Supervises site investigations and laboratory programs. Directs and provides mentorship to junior engineers on a project basis. Prepares field, laboratory and engineering reports for final review by more senior staff. Recommends and implements improvements in specific operational area. Job Responsibilities: * Responsible for team of four to six engineers and engineering assistants on a project basis. * Perform independently on projects of standard to moderate complexity and scope. Plan and conduct standard assignments requiring independent judgment in the selection of techniques, procedures and criteria. Act as a project professional on larger, more complex projects following guidelines set by project supervisor. * Coordinate standard to complex field and laboratory operations and programs, solving most problems that arise and, if necessary, performing technical or special testing that may be requested or required to meet project needs. Required to perform routine and special field and laboratory testing, and data preparation, as required on a project basis. * Supervise and review lower level engineer's field and laboratory instructions, design parameters, methods of analysis, calculations, and draft report text and illustrations. * Independently evaluates and develops foundation soil parameters. * Independently evaluates, selects, performs and checks standard engineering analyses. * Monitors project budgets, schedules and performance against KPIs * Assist in preparation of invoices for projects he/she is performing and supervising. * Assist in training of lower level professionals and review time and expense sheets of project professional under their supervision. * Prepares engineering and advanced laboratory testing proposals and establish project pricing as delegated and reviewed by Supervising Engineer of higher-level professional. * Adheres to quality management system and complies with HSE requirements. * Perform market maintenance, prepare administrative reports, and perform other duties as assigned.
