Job Description

This Senior Manager role reports to the Director of the Procurement Center of Excellence (CoE) and is a hybrid role, focused on (a) competitive bidding for complex spend categories and international markets and, (b) project and operational work in support of center-led process and technology. Gilead continues to rapidly progress overall procurement and strategic sourcing maturity and this position will be relied on as a strong contributor to our goal of becoming a world-class procurement function by 2020. Superior communication, competitive bidding and negotiation experience, presentation and change leadership & management skills are required.

Essential Functions

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers to develop strategic sourcing strategies in support of business goals

  • Prepare and efficiently execute proactive competitive bids for complex categories and international markets with a data driven approach, establishing a network of business partner-supported preferred suppliers and stakeholder-validated Cost Improvements equal to at least 10:1 ROI

  • Know, quickly develop or facilitate internal knowledge for supply markets

  • Support process and capability improvement projects, and operational excellence to ensure Gilead is brilliant at the basics of world-class procurement

  • Provide CoE support to procurement and sourcing professionals across the extended team

Knowledge, Experience and

Skills:
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience (must have 5+ years in a role focused on competitive bidding and contract negotiation).

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (MBA or other Masters-level education is a plus).

  • Ability to engage internal and external stakeholders effectively, facilitate discussions, influence effectively and develop relationships; Ability to drive efforts and projects through relationships and a broad knowledge base.

  • Self-motivated, proactive and responsive, highly organized, results-oriented and attentive to detail

  • Knowledge and understanding of Change Management principles and methodologies

  • Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma and Lean principles Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
